So who ever thought that Final Fantasy would have boiled down to what it is today? I'm extremely impressed, to say the least, of the newly released Final Fantasy XIII. While the gameplay and leveling systems have dynamically changed, one thing always stays the same time and time again through the series. Beautiful graphics, amazing storyline, jaw-dropping cut scenes, tremendous characters that force you to become attached to them throughout the wonderful tale. So many different ways could've been taken, an infinity's worth of different paths, but I'd definitely say that this time, Square Enix picked the right path to travel with this game.
Though Final Fantasy XIII was an absolute shocker to the enitre gaming world, the statement is not something to downsize any other Final Fantasy title out to date. So I'd like for you to tell me your favorite FF experience, your favorite character and why, and finally your favorite cut scene. Have fun!!!

Ohh man... i haven't played enough of these to give a great answer for this... but I'll stick with what I've already played.
Final Fantasy VI. It's the greatest of the ones I've played in my opinion. It really defines Final Fantasy as when it was still 2D. I don't see any other 2D FF game better than this one. As for competing with the others that are 3D... I've really played any of those...
I can't really say I have a fave cutscene or character though. there's way too many of those XD

Yeah, 12 really was great. It received a lot of criticism over the gambit system, but a real Final Fantasy love can see the glory in it: A change in game play and tactics, a new way to interact with the environment, and a way to rid the game of random encounters. Also, the game had a great storyline with countless amounts of "dungeons" full of interesting creatures to keep the game rolling smoothly. It never got boring and was well spaced out, for example, no long three hour dungeons between small boss battles, or endless cut scenes which show vast regions of unplayable areas. The game got progressively harder while picking up new abilities and items at a decent rate. 12 was definitely one of my favorite experiences as well.

By the way, for future discussion, this thread isn't limited to the strict series games such as 1-13. Games such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII: Crisis Core, (PSP Game), are also welcome to discussion.

PLEASE VIZZED, FIX FFXII REMAKE!!!!

Ahhhh, that's a HARD question.. with even a harder answer..

I don't know.. i can't really choose between VII and VIII but still i think final fantasy tactics was one of the best i've ever played and also FFTA..

I still haven't tried FF XIII out but i will when i go back home in 1 month.. and i really have great expectations about it..

My favourite character is RED XIII from FF VII and that will always be true.. it's me

Squall and Auron are also worth mentioning..

XII Definitely made the biggest impact in the U.S. as far as Final Fantasy goes. I mean the game was just astonishing. Absolutely mind boggling graphics for its own time, great storyling that didn't get left open at the end, (If anyone remembers the game ends on a cutscene which displays a time 500 years into the future, insinuating that all the characters have long since passed and the circle of life had started anew), and of course, they had some of the coolest characters out to date. I personally favor Cloud over any other character, (so much that I named my FF Tactics Advanced character Cloud), but I probably like him so much for all the side games I've played such as FF XII Crisis Core. Also, I think the greatest cut scene that ever was...wasn't so much a cut scene, but just a scene itself. Final Fantasy Advent Children. LOVED IT!!!!! The final fight scene with Cloud and Sephiroth was phenomenal.
