So, recent phenomenons have told us about the world ending in the exact date of December 21, 2012. This was nearly as panicky as the recent end of the world thing (The Y2K bug, supposed to be setting off the bombs so we all go kaboom, didn't happen.) and it didn't happen. So, we are heard we will die/live either..

1. Planet X crashing into Earth
2. Solar Flares
3. Pole Changing
4. New Era

Most people thought the world would end by Yellowstone blowing up everything in radius, earthquakes cracking the ground and making people fall into the earth's crust, California sinking into the deep blue, Tsunami finishing the job, etc. etc.
All because of what?
The Maya Calender.
It ends on the date December 21, 2012.
Now everyone talks about this.
Hollywood made a movie of it, heck, even Jeff Kinney (author of the beloved Diary Of A Wimpy Kid) even referenced it in Book 4 of DOAWK! (Greg learning that North America would be underwater in 6 months due to reading a tabloid)

So, we all just keep praying for us to be safe, us building arks, blah blah blah.

But we are doing this all for nothing.
Maybe to prepare for an unsuspected world domination.

But still, this whole Maya Calender thing is a fake.
It is NOT the Mayas fault for this, they were just building a calender.
So the question is: why did the Mayas end the calender on December 21, 2012?
We can answer this the easy way or the hard way.

Hard way: Go open up a History book about the Mayas, and READ.

Easy way: ..THEY WERE CAUGHT IN A GOODNESS DAMN WAR!! Don't you get it!? They were CAUGHT IN WAR! THEY COULDN'T FINISH THE DAMNED CALENDER!! They all lost, and died! So why didn't anyone else besides the Mayas finish the calender? Only the Mayas knew how to make it correctly! They all lost and died, and could never finish the calender, so the calender was stuck on 12/21/2012!

So, I hope you read this all, so you do not have fears and I did not break my hands writing this report for nothing. ;

Sorry, but this should probably be moved to

debate/logic Forum

Maybe you can get someone to move it there, but even if you do, this is probably a duplicate, because of

and

You are right about the debate thing, but I don't see how this is duplicated. Those threads don't mention the real reason why the world will not end.

I want to make a correction here, Mayan is the language, Maya is the race. 2000 years ago, Christians predicted that the second coming and the end of the world were coming very soon. They're still waiting. Do you really think a civilization could really predict the future of the world? They never predicted "the end", it's a huge misunderstanding, it's just that their calendar ends at that date, not that the world ends.

The Mayas, they could predict the end of the world, but couldnt stay long enough to see any Europeans.

I've always known that the world wouldn't end, and that the calender wasn't finished, but I never knew why it wasn't finished. I just kind of thought that the Mayans simply ran out of steam, so to speak. I thought they just weren't certain enough to continue.

Yeah, I used to think the Mayas were just sick and tired of making a *BLEEP*ing calender that goes on and on and on.

We already have threads about this. Septembern has given the links to them, so I'll go ahead and close this. Sorry, RedMage. The truth is, there is no such thing as "the end of the world in 2012".
