Do you prefer city life or life in the country?

Obviously there are combinations, like the suburbs, however which do you prefer? A busier city life, or a more out of the way existence? Has your preference changed over time?

Personally, I think I would prefer to live in a city, my goal in life is to live somewhere where I don’t have to own a car (i.e. good public transportation), but I currently live a bit out in the country (around 6 miles from the “city center”, of a smaller city) and I do prefer the quiet out here. I don’t love my commute, despite being pretty short, and I would prefer to take a bus or train to work if that option was provided (obviously probably not in the US…).

I'm definitely a suburb guy. I don't want the hustle and bustle of a city, but I also don't want to have to drive 30 minutes to go to the grocery store.

That said, when I went to Japan last year, I did think to myself "I could live here." I think there are a few cities that I could be ok with living in. In Japan, I really like Osaka, Nara, and Kyoto. In the US, I think the only city I would enjoy living in is Boston.

I wouldn't be able to survive living in the country. I still don't have my driver's license simply because I'm used to just taking the subway everywhere. I do love walking a lot though, so if I lived somewhere that required like three miles of walking instead of a bus, id survive that. But other than that, I need the city.

Picking between the two I'd pick city in a heartbeat... BUT I think like most people I'd prefer a happy medium. I do enjoy peace and quiet toward the evening time if I'm not explicitly going out, and having lived in Miami for ~24 years of my life, you don't really get that peace and quiet no matter what time it is.

PriotizedPatron_16x16.pngtgags123 : I think I can echo the same sentiment. There were a few Chinese cities I could see myself living in, they had the combo of everything I wanted.

I have been to boston, and I agree it wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for...the people lol. They really live up to their reputation of being extremely rude and unpleasent. I wouldn't mind living in NYC if it wasn't so dirty and overcrowded. But I guess you don't have NYC without that.

Minuano : I imagine Miami was certainly an experience. Busy all the time, and tourists from all over the place.
