Question's in the title - has anyone here ever made a game? I'm taking any technicality here - whether you used something like Unity or Godot or you made something in Warioware D.I.Y., I'd like to hear all about it!

For my own contribution, I can say I made a couple of game jam entries a long time ago. I forced myself in and forced myself to make something that I could submit - neither of them were anything to be proud of, but they did teach me about design and deadlines.

I made like the simplest 'game' ever. You press a button, a red light pops up. You press it twice, a blue light pops up. I took coding/programming as an elective one year in high school and I learned basically nothing but that was something we made.

I would love to one day create my own Pokemon fangame together with deggle. The technology available today should make it fairly doable if we find the time for it

Furret : I gotcha. I've messed with making tiny simple games as well in the past, and took a game design class a long time ago that involved a lot of following examples from a book. If you do end up making a fangame, I'd love to see it! There's a lot of really interesting Pokemon fangames, and multiple ways to make them - either through just ROMhacking, or using RPG Maker XP with Pokemon Essentials.

I made a Minecraft Mini game on the Vizzed Minecraft server which I called S-Volt Blitz as well as a sequel SVB2 I was inspired by playing Devil's Nightmare the project made by mrfe and EM but wanted do more parkour with mine as well as have guest levels and have levels inspired by the mc admins of the time I was intending on it being easy but I accidently made it way too hard some of which was due to mc bugs I couldn't realize would be a thing until I was out of the creative world I was building in so I have done quite a bit of patches in a way over the years by changing things in it. I started work on a 3rd one and have levels that are beatable but who knows if I ever will go back and continue that after all the 1st one I think is a fair experience I do have pride in but the 2nd one sucks so if anything I would rather rework it as I went for the Japanese Mario 2 of just make game harder so it definitely needs a lot of work if I wanted to make it fun.

Two actually! Both as competition projects in high school. Neither of them published of course, just silly passion/"graded" (you scored perfect as long as it was complete) projects that we had a blast making.

The first one was a simple platformer where you played as a block in a world where everyone else, and everything, is a block... it was cute, but simple, sprite work. We even had a dedicated music guy who made some bangers if I can gas it up a little... before putting it down because our rating, while positive, included the hilarious critique of "not fun enough" that me and my friends still quote to this day.

The second one, which actually never made it to the competition because we didn't end up going on the trip, was a fighter... of the entire "dev" team. Literally lol. We all took pictures of ourselves, in a costume, in dozens of poses necessary to import ourselves into MUGEN and gave ourselves (extremely simple) combos and everything. I was a grandma... borrowed another person's sundress and shower cap lol. That one was a blast and it's a shame it never made it to competition because at the very least, everyone would've gotten a kick out of it.
