So I have finished this game twice by now and I figured now would be a good a time as any to give this game a review, I’ve done almost all of them all that’s left is Offline and Lost Gold…oh and Louder Faster Funnier which I am restarting because I have time to complete it since I chose to scale back on gaming season this year to focus on my wellbeing, but I’m not scaling back on Tour de Vizzed.

Gameplay and Story: Once again we have ourselves answering a mess of trivia questions. Thirty Nine episodes worth of questions (yeah someone out there must have liked the format of the Ride) oh before I forget this game gives you an online play option which wouldn’t work now since no one uses dialup internet these days (that’s why this game wasn’t included with the belated 25th anniversary collection) and of course you choose yourself an avatar. Oh and Schmitty is hosting this game and will be for the next few games as well (what happened to Cookie?). Despite the episodic format here there's no main goal in this game. The Ride was the quest to get to the bottom floor, here there's nothing.

Graphics: They have kind of space age ish graphics out there, it makes it look like you’re playing in space but that’s not the case. The Color of the numbers used in the segues actually kind of match the colors of the fonts that were used in previous games (minus the Ride….I think they tried too hard there) we see alot of Robot technology in there including voices.

Soundtracks: As has been kind of the norm with the recent games we have vocal-less segues, which is a shame because those singers were really talented, even more of a bummer you’d think since they were using the Format of the Ride we’d get a new batch of songs to play over the credits instead we get a couple of segments of a Behind the Music Parody (it makes me miss the days when E! And VH1 were watchable), a phone operator saying random stuff, an historically inaccurate boys choir and god knows what people wearing stuff. Once in awhile during the games we get a thing called Robot Theatre

Addictive: It’s hard not to be addicted to a You Don’t Know Jack game and this is no exception

Depth: This game mostly uses the same format as You Don’t Know Jack The Ride however it doesn’t start with cold opener questions, it does however let you pick an avatar to play as (from what I read this was something that was recycled from Headrush which I still haven’t played). Also, unlike the Ride it will give you fifteen questions plus the Jack attack. Does it offer anything new? Yes a couple of things, we get a new mini game called Bug Out it’s where we have to squash a bug that doesn’t belong with a certain category (like for example Oscar hosts, we have to squish who hasn’t hosted the Oscars though keep in mind Conan O’Brien would still be correct even though he has since hosted the show and will again next year) and the other new thing they have is the Anagram question, you don’t rhyme in this you have to unscramble the phrase…or name of the person (including the name of someone I wish they didn’t include)

Difficulty: It could be difficult for first timers because of the way that questions are worded, though even I didn’t get the Bug out at first but I got through it eventually.

Post Review Follow Up: So I guess the bubble must have burst somewhere along the way after this because we don’t get a new physical game for three years (and the same year this game was released, the net show was shut down all the more reason to believe they launched the actual game show too late which premiered on ABC months later and it didn’t help that they didn’t do a good job of promoting the show and as a result it only lasted six episodes) not going to lie even though I liked returning to this format this was kind of underwhelming even after multiple playings, it’s just a darn shame that by the time I got internet (dialup to be exact) they weren’t doing the online stuff anymore. So yeah as much I enjoyed them revisiting the Ride format I didn’t enjoy it in this game. I have about two more Jack games to do, three if we count Headrush but as of this posting I still haven't acquired a copy of the game and getting it from the internet archive is not possible at this time

Yo this review brought back some memories. I used to play YDKJ with my cousins on the family PC and the humor always killed me. The 5th Dementia episodes were wild with those spacey graphics and weird rides. It's a bummer the online mode doesn't work now but local play still slaps if you have friends around. I forgot how savage the hosts can be when you answer wrong lmao. I'd probably still boot this up for a party game. Thanks for the deep dive, I didn't realize there were that many episodes!
