I am stuck between 2 choices. Gaia and Unbound.

Gaia felt a lot like vanilla pokemon game that Gamefreak has made.

Unbound is more of the mature to edgy story.

Pokemon Aquamarine, duh. Obviously I'm going to pick the one that I made.

The best one I played was called Aquamarine. I also really liked Ash Gray, which was how I found Vizzed in the first place. I haven't played many others. I think I have Unbound on my steam deck though.

Back in the day Light Platinum felt like a step above a lot of the other games, with its graphics and custom region being fun to explore. These days it's fair to say the game has aged, but I always had fun playing it.

I played Gaia but couldn't really get into it, it also felt really dated and the story wasn't that good.

I'll give a huge shoutout to Pokemon Lazarus. It's made by the same guy who made Emerald Seaglass, so it retains the beautiful gen 2 inspired sprite work in battle and in the overworld. Now you get to explore a whole new region, and the Pokemon selection is really unique allowing you to use some fun friends on your team. Some custom new mega evolutions as well! Music is also top tier.

I have to say my favourite rom hack is likely Quartz. This is based purely on nostalgic reasons.

This was probably getting to be around 18-20 years ago. I had a friend that lived on my street who had recently came back from a vacation and his cousin had given him a physical version of Quartz on a GBA cartridge. He played it first but thought it was bad because the pokemon were weird lol so he let me take it home and play. I got to a part and I think the characters were swearing and it scared me because I was young and I thought my parents would get me into trouble. When I was outside with him the next day I told him about the swearing and he took the cartridge and smashed it open with a rock. He ripped the battery out of the cartridge (which kind of does look like an older ipod earbud) and he held it to his ear and said "I think this is where the swears are coming from".

Absolutely chaotic story but I will never forget that rom hack just based on that. I can't remember if it was any good or not but I will perhaps try it out again some day.

I'm currently playing through Pokemon Sword and Shield... on the GBA! Me and Clayton have been re-experiencing the wonderful story of Galar (lol)

After beating Shield when it came out, I have genuinely never picked the game back up. I don't like the game and find the story lame, plus there is little to do and the online feature sucks.

I'll admit I have enjoyed my second trip through Galar, although I still think it's a relatively weak region

I think my all time favorite rom hack is probably Pokemon Crystal Clear I really like being able to do the gyms whatever order I want to and such with scaling levels (lol Gen 9 can't even do that) and with all the added events and such I really enjoyed playing it even if it's been quite a while since I last touched it. I also have enjoyed the GBA demake of Sword and Shield but Idk if it's an all time contender for me I'll come back later if I remember more I've played.
