I can help with transparancies, just edit the layout background so that it doesn't have that chuck of picture missing and use transparent coding.
By the way though, that layout doesn't work properly in IE.
It's the margins again, same problem as with JS and my versions of Megaman in that other thread.

I would just use the original picture without cutting that chunk out and use a style code instead.
Example: style=opacity:0.5;filter:alpha(opacity=50)
Used in a table that would provide a transparent box rather then editing the background picture.
