I have been waiting to do this biography of one of 2 of my favorite bosses from Mega Man X6. That boss and reploid's name is Rainy Turtloid. Rainy Turtloid was a reploid that first appeared during the events of Mega Man X6. Turtloid is considered to be a tragic character. Anyway, lets learn about this tragic character.


Like most of the Mega Man X6 reploids Turtloid was created by Gate. He was created to be both an agriculture and environmental reploid. He was created with very high defensive armor and abilities. Gate made him this way so he could withstand the harshest acid rain and pollution. He could dilute water with his water weapons. Basically, he could raise the ph of rain so it would not be too acidic. He could also temporarily create rain to help crops that were in a major drought. Moreover, he could also purify water. For a time he was even a manager of a water treatment plant. For this other purpose he could go into very polluted areas and help clean up the pollution.

While Turloid did good things and was a good guy. His massive size, defense, and offense abilities concerned the world organizations. For offense he could fire a stream of missiles from his shell and he could turn into a massive buzz saw. Despite these abilities he never used them. Instead he did what he was designed for. The world organizations told Gate he needed to weaken his creation as they were scared what would happen if Turtloid went haywire or became infected with the Sigma Virus.

Gate refused and was finned a real hefty amount. Turtloid felt guilty that his creator was punished. He also saw what happened to his fellow Gate locations. Fearing that he would be destroyed or labeled a maverick. Rainy decided to take himself out rather than be dealt with or labeled a maverick.

During the events of Mega Man X6 Gate became infected with the Sigma Virus. He brought Rainy back to life. He made him a nightmare investigator. Rainy knew that the nightmare was a death trap to spread the Sigma Virus. While he did not spread the Sigma Virus he did severe as an investigator even though he knew it was wrong.

When he was confronted by X and Zero he told them that he respected them and that he hoped they could stop the nightmare. He wanted to help them. Rainy stated that Gate was punished because of him and that Gate gave him a second chance. He asks X and Zero to kill him in battle so he can be relieved of his duties and die with a clear conscience. Despite asking X and Zero to kill him, he puts up a tough fight but is destroyed at the end. X and Zero felt remorse about having to kill him. Likely due to his background.

Appearance- Rainy Turtloid as his name implies is based off oa Giant Turtle. He has Red, Black and Gray Armor. He has two green crystals on the back of his shell. In addition, he is very tall and is the tallest reploid in Mega Man X6. He is also the heaviest due to his massive size. Like most of Gate's creations he has a horn on his forehead.

Personality- Rainy took his job seriously as being able to help relieve droughts, purify water, help treat water, and help clean up pollution. He seems to have a high sense of honor and morality. This is proven when he states he knows what the nightmare really is and he ask the two maverick hunters to retire him. He is also very loyal as he is loyal to gate even after Gate becomes a maverick.

Moreover, when his self worth was questioned it really messed him emotionally. He felt guilty that Gate was punished because of him. He also did not want to be labeled a maverick. Despite his massive size and offense capabilities he never used them. Although, it is said that he would use them if he was pushed around but there is no record of him using these weapons in his previous life.

Abilities- Rainy has massive defense capabilities. His thick armor makes him immune to the strongest acids and pollution. He has the ability to temporarily create rain for drought stricken areas. He can also purify water and dilute acidic rain. Due to being able to withstand pollution he can also clean up the most polluted areas. Rainy has great offense abilities. He can use his water as a weapon. When he uses his water as a weapon it can corrode the toughest metal. He can also fire an unlimited supply of missiles from his shell. Thus it is likely that his shell serves as a missile factory. He can also turn into a massive buzz saw. Furthermore, he can use his massive size as a weapon.

Attacks- Rainy has several powerful attacks that he can use against his opponents. His first attack is to use his massive size as a weapon. He can jump on top of opponents to do massive damage. Another powerful attack is his rolling attack. In this attack Rainy will turn into a buzz saw and roll all around his battle area this also does massive damage. Another powerful attack is his missile attack. In this attack Rainy will fire several missiles in a row.

Weakness- His main weakness is the ice weapon. The Ice weapon temporarily freezes him. This is likely due to how turtles are sensitive to cold temperatures. Due to his size, weight, and bulky armor, he is not that fast. If the player is quick they can get hits on him. On the other hand, to do that the player has to get really close to him.

As a meteorologist Rainy is one of my favorites of this game. I like his rain weapon. My other favorite is Blizzard Wolfang. Overall, Rainy is a tragic character. He was misunderstood due to his size and abilities. He was also feared for this same reason. This was despite Rainy doing good things and winning awards. The authorities feared he would become a maverick. However, Rainy showed no signs of becoming a maverick. Despite his offense capabilities he never used them and was very slow to anger. He felt remorse due to being misunderstood and seeing how Gate was severely fined because of him. He could not take it and took his own life.

Even when he is brought back he maintains his sense of honor and morality. Even though he knows the Nightmare is wrong he goes along with it due to his loyalty to Gate. As I mentioned earlier he ask X and Zero to retire him so he can die of piece. X and Zero felt a lot of remorse for destroying him. In some versions of the game X states Rainy I understand you situation I do not want to fight you. In other versions of the game X states That he regrets having to kill Rainy due to his circumstances. Zero tells him that he can liberate him but understands why Rainy has to fight him. In some versions of the game Zero bows his head after killing Rainy showing regret.

In conclusion, Rainy is considered another victim in the Maverick Wars just like Storm Eagle, Magnet Centipede, Blizzard Buffalo, Volt Catfish, Neon Tiger, The Skyver, and fellow investigator Bizzard Wolfang. This concludes the biography of one of my favorite X6 characters.
