Hello, lovely Vizzed friends!

Today, I wanted to start a thread where we can discuss our experiences with wearing glasses. So, who else here wears glasses?

I've been wearing glasses my entire life, and honestly, sometimes I really dislike it. It seems like everyone in my family has perfect eyesight, except for me. I can't help but feel a little envious of their crystal-clear vision. However, I've also come to embrace my glasses as a part of who I am.

Here are a few pictures of younger me with glasses:

I'd love to hear your stories about wearing glasses. Do you have any funny or interesting experiences? What do you love or dislike about them?

Let's share our glasses experiences and have some fun!

Warmest wishes,
Ariella Divine ✨

I wear glasses and it sometimes gets annoying.

I've been wearing glasses as far as I can remember. There is a few things I like about it.
1. Glasses keep your eye's safe
But there are annoying things like.
1. You have to wash them.
2. When you come inside when it is Winter they fog up.
There are more reasons I don't like glasses so yeah, I don't prefer to wear glasses, but I have to.

I've also worn glasses nearly my entire life. I've had my ups and downs with them, but overall I feel like they're a part of me now.

For nearly two decades I've been using contacts for going outside and the difference is absolutely massive. I did feel the difference when I practiced tennis, as wind gusts would blow up the clay and with glasses that would be no problem, but contacts gave me a full field of vision (and a more accurate one, since my glasses are graduated a bit lower due to their mostly in-home use).

Another disadvantage technology has allowed us to overcome was getting a second pair of sunglasses for when sunlight was intense. A special kind of glass that darkens when facing sunlight was the prefect solution, until you have to enter somewhere and realize your glasses are too dark to allow you to see anything, so maybe that second pair is still a practical solution xD.

I recently changed my glasses, because my old ones were starting to fall apart, and it's taken me some time getting used to my new look. I haven't gotten used to them being much bigger now, which has prompted a few funny incidents that would have been impossible with my slim old ones.

One funny experience I'd like to share isn't exactly mine. My mother also used glasses for most her life, but she underwent surgery some years ago to stop using them. Even to this day there are times where she still wakes up and searches for her glasses out of habit. This clearly goes on to say how much of a part of yourself do glasses eventually become lol

Hey Ariella!

Ah, the life of wearing glasses... Well, you know I can't really relate since I've been blessed with that crystal-clear vision you mentioned (sorry, sis!). I mean, I can practically see into the future with these eagle eyes! 0_0 Just kidding, but seriously, I do appreciate not needing glasses.

On the other hand, you totally rock those glasses and they're like your signature style! Plus, they make you look super smart and sophisticated . Embrace the glasses life, sis!

And hey, if you ever want to try contact lenses or something, I'll be your personal cheerleader and support you all the way!

Keep shining,
Your 20/20 bro, Zach

Thank you all for sharing your experiences with glasses! It's great to see that I'm not alone in this journey. ❤️

Dauntez : I can definitely relate to the pros and cons of wearing glasses you've mentioned. They do help protect our eyes, but the cleaning and fogging can be quite annoying. I guess it's just a part of the package we have to accept as glasses wearers.

EX Palen : It's interesting to hear about your experiences with contacts and the special kind of glass that darkens in sunlight. The advantages of a full field of vision and the challenges of adjusting to new glasses are all too familiar. I love the story about your mother searching for her glasses out of habit even after surgery – it just goes to show how much glasses become a part of our lives!

Zachariah : Haha, I'm glad you can't relate to the glasses life, Zachy! But thank you for the compliments and support. It's true that glasses have become a part of my signature style, and I've grown to embrace them over the years. I appreciate your offer to be my personal cheerleader if I ever decide to try contact lenses! ❤

To everyone who wears glasses or has worn them in the past, let's continue to embrace the glasses life and support each other through the ups and downs. We may have to deal with some inconveniences, but our glasses make us unique and they're a part of who we are. Let's rock those frames with confidence! ❤

I just remembered another funny story related to this, reminiscing about the past and how glasses define our style.

When I entered secondary education, I trialed using contacts for the first time. My school separated each level in different buildings, so my friends from the lower grade (we used to interact a lot with the immediately previous class and pass on our experiences with the teachers and such) stopped seeing me unless their PE class happened right before our free time (because the "gym" was in our building).

There was a morning in which they were getting out and ready to return to their place. I was just standing there, enjoying my breakfast, when one of my friends called me. When I responded and looked to them, another of my friends screamed in surprise, not believing how much his friend changed now that he was wearing contacts!

That scene impacted me and I have it glued to my memory forever more. As someone who hasn't underwent major appearance changes (so far) it was quite a unique moment in my life.

EX Palen : Hey EX Palen! That's such an interesting story about how switching from glasses to contacts made a significant impact on your appearance, and how your friends reacted to it. It's amazing how something as simple as changing an accessory like glasses can lead to a completely different look for a person. It's cool that you were able to experience that unique moment in your life, and I'm sure it must have been quite surprising for your friends as well. Thanks for sharing this memory! It's a great reminder that our glasses can really define our style and, sometimes, the way people perceive us.

I have wore glasses since age 2 with bifocals. My memory goes all the way back to when I was 2 years old. I am now in my late 30's not to far from age 40. But I can remember when I was 2 how I would run into things. It turned out I had Astigmatism and was far sighted so I needed glasses. At first like a 2 year old I jerked the glasses off a few times. However, after a few months I realized I could see better. I did not run into things.

As I got older my glasses had to be adjusted as I grew. In High school my bifocals were increased as I went legally blind in one of my eyes. I also started to develop sensitivity to light. So my glasses were trans lense that could make it look like I was wearing shades and adjusted to light levels. When I was in college it was determined I had a brain tumor (Non cancerous but one of those that can still kill you). I had that removed and my vision game back some.

I still wear glasses with bifocals. I will be honest I love glasses. As due to my vision problem eye contacts and surgery are not an option. I would feel funny without my glasses. I will be honest with out my glasses I am actually blind.

I’ve never really wore glasses up until 2014. When 2014 arrived I did got glasses but it was more for cosmetic purposes rather than help my eyesight. Clearly it never lasted and lost the glasses eventually since they weren’t important and seemed a bit tacky to wear them as a cosmetic item. Now these days I’m not sure if I do need glasses since my eyesight isn’t as great as it used to been but maybe it’s from working night shift that they’re just groggy and not blurry
