Have there been any cards that you bought or were excited for but after you bought them or years down the line, the value crashed?

One of my biggest collections is of one of my favorite baseball players, Matt Harvey. I've bought many of his signed cards but starting in 2016, his career went downhill fast and the prices for all the cards dropped by like 80 to 90 percent.

There have also been a handful of Evolving Skies pokemon cards that crashed since the set came out.

I was really stoked for the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty set of Magic the Gathering. I took like 10 years away from buying Magic cards until that set and I wasn't aware of the negative sentiment from the community regarding recent sets. Nonetheless I thought it was a fantastic collection of cards, so I got two Satoru Umezawa promo cards given by card shops with booster box purchases off of eBay the week it released for $30 each. They had art from Yoji Shinkawa who did the cover art and mech designs in Metal Gear Solid.

Now the card is maybe 6 dollars.

Good thing I haven't pulled the trigger on the Pokemon Go cards I don't have yet. Prices on those keep going lower and lower. The Charizard Ultra Premium Collection promo cards were the same price of the box itself when it released, but now that supply is super heavy, those cards are running at $10-15 tops a piece.

I honestly don't buy singles anymore because I personally haven't really been all that interested in playing the Value game with what raises or lowers in price. I usually tend to buy packs for things I want and leave it at that, but I do have a binder for more higher value cards I happen to pull. Nothing really all that important though.

Admit I haven't bought any Packs since a few months ago because I've been trying to save money and I had a bad habbit of buying boxes from my local card shop.

Oh yes back in the day I used to collect baseball cards when I was a teenager. A lot of my cards came in packs that you could buy at stores. I remember buying a collection of cards at Kmart. Some of the cards were players on teams I did not care for.

Some of the player cards I received in the card packs turned out to be future hall of fame members.

However, some of the cards value went down the drain.

Mark Mcgwire he played on the Cardinals which was one of my favorite teams. A few years ago he set the home run record at that time. I was glad I had a Mcgwire card. However, this card's value went down the tubes. A few years later Mcqwire admitted he used steroids his entire career. This made his stats tainted.

John Wetterland- He was a closer and seemed like a good guy. He had a lot of saves. His card also came in the box of cards. However, in 2020 Wetterland was arrested for sexually abusing a 14 year old at his camp. In 2022 his trial ended in a mistrial. While he has not been convicted yet. His value has hit rock bottom.

Omar Vizquel. Okay I was never a fan of Omar's this was because he played on teams I did not like. Still his card came in the pack I got. However, his card's value is probably nothing. Omar settled multiple lawsuits. Omar was accused of molesting disabled children.

Ken Camaniti- This one is really sad. I got to meet Camaniti and he was down to earth. I got his baseball card in 1999. However 1999 was his last year. Injuries started to derail his career. In addition, he started fighting his addiction battle again. By 2001 he was out of baseball. A few years later Camaniti died due to his battle with addiction.



I did not have his card but I agree with you on Matt Harvey. When he came up he was good. But injuries have derailed his once promising career.

Paradox Engine. A day later it was 5 bucks because it was banned for the reason why I bought it. Infinite Combos. 215 usd gone because my deck was revolved around that card.
