I haven't shiny hunted in a long time but when I did I really only did it to fill time. Outside of that I don't really have anyone to share with hey look I got a shiny. So really just a time waster for me.

I don't hunt shinies, they come to me. Without even trying, I've received three shinies to date. A shiny Psyduck in Pokémon Platinum, a shiny Zubat in Heartgold, and a shiny wheel thing in Ultra Moon, whatever it was named.
Shiny hunting takes away the fun for me, because I just want to discover a random shiny somewhere. If I hunt it myself, then I'll already know what I'm getting, the surprise is more fun.

I don't hunt shinies as I'm not very fond of farming, unless said farming is actually needed for the progression/completion of the game. Challenges without a real meaning for completing the game are not my way of gaming, and I've also left behind the attitude of having to show off unique looks on what I'm using, in any game.

This being said, I think I've only met a single shiny in my life, and it was precisely in this site, playing one of the many hacks we used to have. So yeah, besides not being fond of farming you could say I'm extremely unlucky in finding specific things.

For me I will on rare occasions hunt a shiny Pokémon the first one I ever hunted and my longest was for a shiny Froakie since Greninja is my favorite Pokémon and it took so long I have no idea why I ever attempted it again but I have shiny hunted a few Pokémon over the years normally when I'm bored and randomly think hey that'd be cool to have.

I don't consider myself a shiny hunter because I don't actively seek out shinys but I will try to get shiny Pokemon if the colorway is better than there normal versions, I currently have three shiny Pokemon that I adore and take with me to every region I play through, shiny latias, shiny metagross, and shiny dragapult. I obtained shiny latias and metagross thru gameshark on Pokemon Emerald and the shiny dragapult I got thru oaks lab on etsy lol don't judge me hunting shinys takes way to much time to get them the legit way anyways here are photos of my favorite shinys!

Plus there are some shiny Pokemon that simply look amazing. There are many Pokemon where even if you don't care about the rarity or odds, just having them in your party or battles simply looks cool.
