I really need to get as many words done as possible for this one because I don't know how many words tomorrows review will be let alone what I will review
Gameplay and Story: Dear Bess, Remember Maya Nguyen from High School? no we don't Maya only exists in this game because this game is based on the Nancy Drew Files book of the same name, and she wasn't in the book, in the book Bess was the one who was abducted, Maya was the abduction victim here because Her Interactive wasn't ready to show us Bess and George. Anyway Maya goes into Brady's Armstrongs dressing room to conduct an interview when all of a sudden she let's out a scream and it's heard within Nancy's hearing, when Nancy arrives in the dressing room no one is in there, she then gets a call from the theater phone that says if the theater goes down Maya goes down with it (we later found out Maya wasn't the intended target Brady was) not only do we also deal with Brady we also deal with his agent Simone Mueller (Simon Mueller in the book) the long time caretaker of the Royal Palladium (yeah I forgot to mention something the premiere of Brady's latest movie Vanishing Destiny is held at this theater and this showing is the theaters last hurrah before it's being torn down in three days) and the leader of Had It who wants to keep the theater up to prove his grandmother worked on it in the 1920's (it's also her last work once the depression hit she couldn't afford to work as an artist again), and we find out from the police that Nicholas performed a similar stunt to what the kidnapper did in this theater in Nashville, though it turned out the victim was in on it, but this isn't something Maya would do. However despite what Nicolas did I found that he was the most reliable ally (Simone was the WORST! she cared more about getting attention for Brady than the seriousness of what was going on hell even she tries to get Nancy to want to do Hollywood...how has there not been a mystery game set in Hollywood? yeah I don't consider the dossier games to be cannon, also I haven't played them, besides those games don't have a save function they expect you to finish this in one go) This is a very sinister plot indeed but everyone would have a motive for the abduction even though none of the suspects knew the victim
Graphics: So it seems by this time the animation and stuff seems to have found their niche they start to look a little less robotic
Soundtrack: There's a very Jazzy soundtrack in this game, including the most suspenseful heart pounding track you would hear when trying to get through the electrified fence and the last seconds to find Maya, also I don't know why but I don't really like Nancy's tone in this game, I mean I get why she's angry and on a deadline but Nancy geez, calm down
Addictive: I don't remember how long it took me to finish this game I think it took me a week I don't remember 2005 was such a long time ago, and I managed to get it done even with a computer that kept giving me blue screen
Depth: The game takes place over a course of three days because that's the theater's deadline for standing, depending on whether you listen to the press conference or how much time you spend on the phone the game, it can be finished in two hours. Also this is one of the few games where Nancy doesn't do anyones chores or tasks (well except for the favour she's doing for Nicholas)
Difficulty: Surprisingly I managed to avoid getting killed in the game, but then again I was playing this with assistance of the Her interactive boards, but man this was one of those endings where I had to keep my heart from jumping out of my chest
Post review follow up: I won't lie this is not my favourite game in the franchise (but I don't consider it to be the worst either, there are people out there that are still getting the taste of Midnight in Salem out of their mouths) I mean for a game that involves kidnapping this feels so ordinary but I have a hard time hating anything regarding the Nancy Drew Franchise so...it still gets an excellent rating
This concludes my review I don't know what I will review tomorrow I really don't, I guess I'll just leave it up to fate
