So here we are with part two of the muncher reviews, this time we are reviewing the game once known as Trivia Munchers, I guess The Learning Company changed the name of the game when they acquired MECC's library
Gameplay and Story: So this time we are dealing with Knowledge, so the Muncher is using a time machine/popcorn maker and he gets sucked into it and the game begins So again not alot of plot we just go around the board munch the answers for the target question, that broad from Music, Geography Animal science, we also have a new Troggle, Ned the Platypus replaces Spidey in this game because reasons, we have new commentators and Elephant and I don't remember the other one, this time after you clear three boards you can watch the Muncher, Troggles and Cookie re-enact scenes in American History, and boy do they hate Brussel Sprouts...man why did they screw with Cookie's voice in the re-enactments it sounds like a man is doing it
Graphics: They are about the same as the other games, oh wait no they aren't in the cut scenes the Muncher looks a little different, a little greener a litter more rubbery
Soundtrack: So they don't recycle the soundtrack from the last game they have new background music, and this time around we get a blues number in the hall of fame que rather than a rap, I can't wait to describe the hall of fame music, however in this situations I think it's better if I show rather than describe maybe I'll go back to the Math Munchers review and include the hall of fame song from that as well
Addictive: to be honest, I never played this in my youth I didn't have a copy until 2011, but at least trivia is something I excel at, it kind of makes me wonder why am I working in a school library when I could be doing the game show circuit, but then again I'm one of those people that don't think Carmen Sandiego should be touched ( even though I would send an audition tape and complete a test in a heartbeat, but seriously if people weren't that interested in Hidden Temple for grownups what makes people think that WitWiCS for adults will catch on)
Depth: again it's the same as Math Munchers, you play until you get tired and quit or the Troggles eat all your munchers
Difficulty: I won't lie even though I excel at trivia sometimes I have great difficulty with the puzzles, I mean I'm good at Geography but man bodies of water and describing certain areas, at least a couple I don't recall seeing when watching Game Show Carmen. Also again we have the option to play with or without troggles, but again I prefer to play with Troggles sometimes I prefer the challenge.
Post-review follow-up: why is it so hard to come up with so many words for a game like this I mean these are easily clones but the subject and the cut scenes have changed, you know I just realized this must have been the last game made in the franchise considering how the Muncher looks in the cut scenes and how Cookie's voice has been screwed with
This concludes my view, tomorrow the double action posts will be review so expect two reviews from me tomorrow, one of them will be Word Munchers deluxe
