I'd say my personal favorites are Super Kitiku Mario and 100 Rooms of Enemies. Both are rom hacks of Super Mario World.

Rom hack? I mean I would probably say Pokemon Liquid Crystal. It’s a gba hack of fire red that recreates Johto with the story and starters from the respected gen (2). What I like about it is obviously the updated graphics but also capturing gen 3 Pokémon and the move sets. It’s probably one of very few hacks that I played

I think my favorite would definitely be Newer Super Mario Bros Wii it's been a number of years since I played it but I remember thinking the level design in the rom hack was far superior to New Super Mario Bros Wii which really impressed me cause I still enjoy the game I also loved the music choices they used throughout the hack I wish I could still play it cause I think it's honestly an underrated rom hack.

Oh yeah I've seen gameplay of those two rom hacks before they seemed really fun. I'll have to try them someday.

My favorites would be Pokemon Ash Gray and Aquamarine. Ash Gray was what got me to Vizzed because I was looking for a place where I could play it and I played Aquamarine a lot because it was made by another user and I ended up liking it a lot.

My favorite Rom Hack would be Mega Man X3 Zero Project Version 4. I love this hack because you can play as Zero throughout the entire game except for one level. Even if you die as Zero you can still play as him. I also like how the dialogue has been changed to feature Zero as the main player instead of X. I wish the Original X3 had been done this way. Thankfully, Capcom allowed players to play as Zero full time in the future X games.

In the Original X3 game, which is a very good game and one of my favorites. You could only use Zero in a limited role. If you died as Zero in the original game, you could not use him the rest of the game. As Zero would be considered injured.

Another Hack I liked is Streets of Rage 2 Street Fighter Edition. There are two versions. One version you can play as Blanka, Zangief, and E-Honda. The other version you can play as Sagat. Sagat, Blanka, E-Honda, and Zangief are my favorite street fighter characters. To be able to play a beat em up game as them is really neat. Come to think of it a beat em up game suits the street fighter characters well.

I've only ever really played Pokemon romhacks, and none to true completion, but I am in the middle of one right now called Pokemon Unbound. Rather than riffing off of a region and changing up the story or something, this is a completely new game that involves a freshly created region and narrative, custom sprite work, and new concepts to the general idea of Pokemon. I do also enjoy that it does not add any new Pokemon (to my knowledge) as I don't really care for fandom Pokemon. I will say that it doesn't have the same "charm" as an actual Pokemon game, which I have not seen a romhack replicate yet, but it's fun enough that I'm still enjoying it.
