How does one speak to one another? How does one message through text? Do these pants make my butt look big?

These questions, though minor and rhetorical, really helps characterize a person in terms of their sentence structure, choice of words (well grammar), punctuation and pronunciation. It’s what makes us unique when communicating to one another.

Do you have a speech pattern? How is your idiolect differ to others? What are your usual common words whenever speaking to someone? What about text with the same questions I just asked?

For me I always have a bit of a pause before speaking and make sure I word things carefully whenever I speak to someone, especially when I go “uhhh” to make sure I understand what they’re saying and repeat back.

As how I speak to others, I mean I would say how fast I speak with the fluidity of my words, since I tend to speak faster as my brain process what words to use during a conversation or a topic.

My go to words or phrases… “What?” “I don’t got money” “I’m broke” and one unsavory word that is frown upon, especially in the ghetto… the money deal is just an inside joke that I always say to friends and colleagues whenever they call for me or something.

As how I text or write, I mean I rarely use pronunciation and with the use of autocorrect I tend to keep my words spelled correctly. I always make myself look like I’m full of myself or being a fool. A sense of arrogance in my texts if one can actually understand the tone. I never use contractions of “You all” or “are not” since they never been in my vocabulary. Not even talking I don’t use those it just isn’t me to begin with

I try to listen very carefully to what someone is saying so that when they are finished talking I know roughly what I want to say in response so it's normally only when I'm stressed or caught completely off guard that I'm at a loss for words. I will say my vocabulary is not great I feel like I talk pretty generically like I don't think I use that many uncommon words or anything which is funny because when I was young I was always learning all kinds of big words to use and confused adults with (As you may guess I was a cocky child) but anymore I feel like keeping it simple is just more fun. It gets worse when it comes to typing I could not care less about properly using grammar and punctuation at all I'm not in school so I'll type how I want to is generally how I've decided to look at it when typing online for years. When it comes to things I say all the time I think Hello is the one that comes right to mind which I get from talking to Furret who always says it when something catches him off guard or offends him which I just find funny so I ended up doing it too though I try not to do it as much cause I used to have an issue of taking phrases friends used a lot but I think at this point Hello??? is the only example that I still do a lot. For something I use a lot when I get yelled for by my grandparents or something happens and it annoys me would for crying out loud which I didn't even realize I did till Furret and fqur pointed it out at some point lol. As for my use of tone while typing I'm honestly not sure what to say I think I might come off as cold a lot of times in text which I rarely intend to so then to counter that sometimes I'll add a ! to the end of something to seem excited instead of just nothing or a period cause it just looks off to me but I've also noticed as I get older the less I have to say about things in general.

According to others, my intonation is like a sine wave: lots of ups and downs. I never quite noticed it, but people other than my husband noticed when I start Toastmasters.

Other than that, my autism makes communication difficult at times. It all makes sense in my head, but too many people don't see the logic when I utter the words.

I'm much better at writing. Knowing three languages helps me thinking and finding ideas for hashtags that are subtle enough to get under the censors' radar.

I have high functioning Autism so what I want to say in my mind does not always come out the way I want it to. When facebooking or texting I try to use complete sentences.

Some of the words I say are scientific because well I am a scientists after all. I used to have a little delay in speech when I was a lot younger but I no longer have it now.
