I was watching the news and i seen a buch of hispanics and latinos marching in washington about getting legal in america. they said because there scared there going to get deported. i dont know much about law but i know that people from mexico can get legal. my question is why dont they all just go get legal why march about it?

By the way i'm NOT racist at all just to let you know. i'm just curious about this subject

well, part of the problem is that it is a huge long process to get approved and there are a ton of regulations and what not that you have to follow in order to get approved.

Plus the government doesn't look highly upon people crossing the border illegally and then expecting to become citizens or anything like that.

Also, you have companies that employ these people and keep them too scared of getting in trouble to try to get citizenship.

It's a vicious circle for some people. A bad life here is much better for most of them than a life back where they came from.

They just sound stupid. They parade around saying the govt should make illegal aliens, legal because there afraid of getting departed. But JTRL, it's not easy to "get legal" once you've illegaly crossed the border. I mean literally the first thing they did in the USA was breaking the law by illegaly getting there, do you think the government is going to be like "Sure you can 'get legal', just sign this paper".

It's sometimes easier said then done to immigrate to the USA legaly if you you happen to have little education and no work already lined up (to be clear I'm not steriotyping all Mexicans are uneducated).

Particularly in the case of Mexico (as this involves my friend's family and why they haven't been able to come over), the Mexican government makes it almost impossible to get legal immigrant status because of all the regulations (they don't want people leaving) so a lot off times they find it easier to cross the border illegally and go through the process here. Some are able to get visas to come over, but many are not.

Also, with the labor market. A lot of times they come over here, work for awhile and save up the money, then go back home and have enough money to live comfortably for a long time.

So this issue hits home for me since my mom was born in Mexico. Thankfully, she was lucky enough to successfully get a visa. As many people have said in here, it's not easy to just apply for U.S. citizenship and bam!, there it is. Especially since there is such a high volume of people that are willing to come to the U.S., it is becoming increasingly difficult.

Also, I'll have to disagree and say that rallies and marches are not "stupid" ways of presenting issues. Voices need to be heard in one way or another, and there is power in numbers. People have to stand up for what they believe in, and history has shown that marches can be very successful in getting a point across.

They even tried to block off an interstate highway. To me, that is stupid protesting. But I don't think that was the case for the aliens protesting.
