Ever had the urge to belch thinking it’s a small quiet burp but it ended up a loud bass boom box of a sound that it broke the sound wave and space time continuum and people look at you while you feel so embarrassed about it but not as embarrassing when you fart loud in public? Anyone?


Or rather when you belch do you just let it out or try to cover it up whether I’m public or private?

Initial response I just wanted to put "Nice".

Legit response to thread though if I have to burp and I am around people that would notice it I just say excuse me and 9/10 they didn't even care.

The sequel we didn't know we needed has just arrived.

If I'm around people I know, I simply burp it out because I know we'd all laugh at it. In the case they're not into that kind of humor then a timid excuse me before doing it and everything is fine, even if you destroyed the windows with that horrific sound.

If I'm around people I'm not that comfortable with, then I simply let it out with my mouth closed. I know it can still sound quite heavy, but hey, what else could I do but try to act normally? It's a common body reaction and we all do it, more or less often.

But anyway, my time of potent belches seems to be mostly gone. 99% of the time, even if I think a big one is coming, it ends up being average at most. So yes, I'm a bit proud of myself when I actually manage to pull off a powerful one xD

If I'm in a formal setting or in public I'll burp into my fist because my primitive caveman brain thinks that will block the sound. It doesn't, but it does look a little more civilized than wide open burping in public.

In private with people I'm comfortable with I just let it happen as nature intended it to. Though I am lucky as I seem to be a magnet for people that burp louder than me so I don't stand out as much as I feel like I do.

I find that when I try to slow a burp down or hold it back that it ends up lasting WAY longer than it would have if I had just let it out. It ends up being a long, slow rumble rather than a quick loud noise.

I tend to just belch most of the time though. Not sure why people think it's such a bad thing to do....

When I was in 7th grade I felt a belch coming on. I thought it would be a small burp. Instead it was a very loud and long one. I put my hands over my mouth and said excuse me. My peers were laughing and all I could do was laugh with them. One of the teachers heard me and asked if I was okay. I guess she was concerned that something was wrong.
