Is anyone else holding out to upgrade their computer? With graphic card prices right now it is insanely difficult to upgrade and even build a computer with high-end specs right now.

Like me for example my computer doesn't necessarily need a new graphics card but for me to upgrade to a rtx3080 it costs as much as it did to build my computer in the first if not a couple hundred dollars more.

If anything I wish there were sites that enforced a no scalping rule on prices but sadly that will never happen I think. The other problem is chip shortages and I have no idea how that could be solved in a reasonable way.

Are any of y'all struggling to upgrade or maybe even sad you can't build with the prices things are now?

Firstly i think a rtx3080 would be 2/3 the price of my current pc when i bought it at base price... consider that my pc is like 5 years old.. its easily gonna be more expensive than the parts in my computer now.

I'd love to upgrade my pc i really would. I just personally don't have the funds to even think about it. which really does suck as my pc is basically now in that awkward position betwenn playing most games, but will struggle to play them for a long time.. or i can only run that game and nothing else. lol

I've honestly given up on the idea. Scalpers and bitcoin scum have honestly ruined the dream of creating high end custom computers right now. Even if you enforced a no scalping rule, they'd find a way around it. The hobby is just dead in the water right now.

I'm glad I built something before any of the whole cryptocurrency-mining business started. I might consider upgrading my GPU along with my CPU at some point, but the current situation means I'm definitely not upgrading my GPU any time soon.

On the "scalping" point, I have no idea how you could perfectly, concretely define scalping well enough to enforce it consistently. I can only assume some people are out there actually buying them for these hideously inflated prices...This was a problem before, it's just more of a problem with the Internet making it easier to buy in bulk and register 324 bot accounts to buy anything that has a per-account limit.
