I was out of the loop when it came to professional wrestling for many years. The WWE didn't interest me anymore after 2011, and it seems to just be getting worse by the year at this point. So naturally, I've always been looking out for another outlet. The problem happened to be that no where else really had a whole lot of talent that held my interest. You can find people here or there that impress you, but I was raised with the mega stars, and I needed to see them do amazing things in order to keep my interest. It simply wasn't there, so I just tuned out.

More recently though I turned AEW on just for the heck of it. I had heard of them a bit, but didn't know a lot of the names, so I gave it a pass. Then I felt really stupid. The first match I saw of AEW had Jurassic Express in it, and man they're amazing. I just love their theme song and Jungle Boy will certainly be going places. This led to me sticking around for awhile, and I'm glad I did...

Their recent PPV "All Out," far exceeded my expectations. Most Wrestlemanias haven't hit the level of quality that the event presented, and I don't want to spoil anything, but there's some big roster additions they announced that are absolutely shaking up the balance of power in the industry, not to mention CM Punk returned to Wrestling and had a stellar match with Darby Allin, who's looking like Sting's successor to me. I am beyond impressed, and really excited for the future of this promotion.

After CM Punk returned I kept telling myself I would give dynamite a shot but I've forgotten every week. From what I've heard and seen I feel like I really would enjoy it but at this point I almost question if I really wanna get into the habit of watching wrestling every week again cause at this point it's been years since I had to watch every show and I'm happy with that to be honest.

SonicOlmstead : Give All Out a shot and then decide.

This was honestly the biggest factor to me tuning in to Dynamite this week.

I just watched All Out and the first hour I wasn't feeling it to much for most of it but that all changed when I watched the tag title match in the steel cage I've never really liked tag matches in WWE cause I always found them boring compared to singles but omg this was easily the best tag match I've ever seen. I'm probably going to forget some of the matches but I really enjoyed watching Jericho vs MJF I had no idea Jericho still hit the Lionsault (no idea if I spelled that right) so I was surprised to see him pull that off. Seeing Punk wrestle again was a treat even if I've never seen Darby wrestle before this I'm excited to see what Punk does next. I really enjoyed watching my first ever Kenny Omega match after hearing about him for so many years I thought his move off the barricade was really cool though it scared me when he slipped off when he first tried it, and that spear through the table by Christian where the leg of the table went through and cut his ribs was brutal. Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson debuting after was a great way to end the show. There's a part of me that doesn't wanna get dragged back into watching wrestling but I might not be able to avoid it after watching All Out.

SonicOlmstead : That's pretty much how I felt yeah. Now to clarify, John Moxley is Dean Ambrose and Miro is Rusev. So those first two matches were done by former big WWE names. Paul Wight is obviously the Big Show, but he's too messed up at this point to put on a good match honestly, I feel bad for the guy.

That tag match was great, and I gotta say, AEW has a far better tag division than I've ever seen in WWE. Jurassic Express is my favorite, and the smaller guy Jungle Boy is being groomed to be a world champion someday, they're super over with the fans, and I hope they face the Lucha Bros for the title someday.

Darby Allin is like the successor to Sting, he's actually really cool and good at wrestling for his age. I'm hoping he and Jungle Boy face off when they're both a bit more experienced, Punk is also looking quite great considering how long he's been retired.

Jericho is kind of impressive for his age, but the guy wrestled after testing positive for Covid, so people are pretty much asking the guy to retire at this point, he's in his twilight years where you'd think he'd be putting guys over more often anyway.

Christian however, was mistreated in the WWE in my opinion and ought to win a title in AEW, he's a bit younger than Jericho who previously held the AEW World title, so I feel justified in saying this. He also did a tremendous job against Kenny Omega.

We also have Cody Rhodes and Gold Dust in AEW too. Tony Khan has been snatching up old and new talent as Vince has put them to the wayside. I do believe this wrestling promotion will only get better, and the Khans have 9 billion dollars to back it up too. Plus they have a video game slated for next year made by Yukes. (Devs of Smackdown vs Raw and 2K up to 2K19.)

(Spoilers for this last Wednesday.) Oh also, to fill you in on what happened on their main show Wednesday so you can get a glimpse of what you'll be jumping into. Taz has his own stable and essentially goaded CM Punk into feuding with his guys, that's probably gonna be a thing soon. One of the huge stables called the Dark Order is breaking up and warring for a new leader. Ruby Soho is slowly positioning herself for a title shot. Gold Dust has been feuding with Malakai Black and I believe Cody is in on the feud. MJF declared himself the winner and took pot shots at the crowd. The biggest heel stable called the Elite spent an eon giving themselves a pat on the back and said that the Young Bucks had their titles stolen essentially. Moxley beat the second Japanese pro wrestler but it was a short match because some promos went on too long.

Rampage is on tonight on TNT 10PM EST. It's a one hour show which is mostly wrestling where as Dynamite on 8PM EST is usually about a third promo. There's also a special show on Saturday, and their YouTube channel uploads undercard shows twice a week where they develop talent.

Edit: Hey look at that, Darby and Jungle Boy fight in this dev preview. How telling.

AEW reminds me of WCW in 1996 but with more wrestling minds in charge.

I'm excited to see where this company goes in the next 2-3 years. They already have a better roster overall (maybe not the Women's division but everything else is stronger to me).

I don't watch wrestling much anymore as it's been pretty bad in the last decade but I have wanted to watch AEW regularly. I just don't have the time most weeks.

geeogree : Even better is the Khan family seems pretty invested in AEW so it's much less likely to collapse and be bought out. Maybe Vince will finally get off his ass. I heard Smackdown did pretty well tonight, that's likely no accident.

pennylessz : it's the only show of WWE's that is remotely watchable right now. Everything else is pretty bland.

It is what I hope for though. I would love to see a resurgence in wrestling similar to what happened in the 90's. I'd also kind of like to see WWE be the one to die this time.

geeogree : Well, we both know what happens when WWE wins, so I don't think either of us would hope it does. They also traditionally have treated their talent very badly, I've heard AEW is much better at that. I'm personally just waiting for some of AEW's home grown talent to become more experienced, Darby Allin is really interesting, and I can see him as the face of the company one day. In WWE I'm sure he'd be considered too small, which is very telling. Jeff Hardy might hop over too, he's essentially been relegated to a jobber by now.

pennylessz : Jeff Hardy should be nothing more than a jobber because he isn't trustworthy but I'd be okay with him jumping ship anyway.

I like Darby Allin. His matches are pretty fun to watch.

I do like the mix of "indie" and WWE talent through the line-up. You've got people from both groups being successful. There doesn't seem to be any concern that someone came from a certain place and that holding them back. I heard a LOT of talent from WCW was held down for a long time as an ego trip by McMahon.

geeogree : Oh for sure. I remember the Wrestlemania match between Triple H and Booker T. HHH had been reigning for a long time by that point and you'd figure, he'd lose it to somebody who was a several time champion in WCW, but Booker T lost, quite a bit easier than I'd expect actually. Then after that it was pretty much over for him as far as Wrestlemania was concerned.
Hogan is lucky he was so popular or he'd have been shafted too probably. The guy wasn't young and I'm sure Vince didn't appreciate him bolstering the enemy all those years.

pennylessz : yeah, Booker T was the most high profile one but it happened to basically every single WCW original wrestler. Hogan got through it because he was WWE before he was WCW.

I also like how AEW people also move between Impact, New Japan and a few other organizations. Being able to work where you want and have matches in other places makes more sense than forcing people to be exclusive.

geeogree : It's great that they let them do that considering the now stacked roster. There's no way they could fit everyone onto every card, and so a lot of wrestlers will be underutilized and it'd be a real shame if they couldn't work just because there's not a spot.

pennylessz : exactly. There are plenty of guys in WWE that only get TV time on the third rate shows. They never show up on Smackdown, RAW and NXT and spend multiple years in WWE never really getting any TV time.

I'm not suggesting people deserve TV time simply because they are signed at a company but I couldn't imagine working the remainder of a contract knowing I was getting no TV time and only house shows.
