Chapter 19

At the DIY store, Pinky marveled at how amazing the building looked. It was very expansive in both height and width. It contained thirteen long aisles, wood floors, and apricot walls. Pinky and his team were excited to travel to more places than they normally did while working on something. They traveled a good amount when they were on breaks but mostly traveled to their parents’ houses and Pac-Land when they weren’t on break.

“As we discussed on the way here we should split up once we know where everything is,” Blinky reminded them. He asked one of the employees about the supplies they needed, such as a cordless drill. Clyde asked about the bathroom. Violet and Silver paired up, Pinky and Bronze paired up, and Inky and Blinky paired up. Greeny was by himself for now, but Clyde would be stuck with him because everyone picked their partners so quickly. He faked a smile because he still wanted to treat Greeny well to do Blinky a favor. While Clyde rushed to the bathroom, all the others took their time scanning the aisles for their supplies.

“I just thought about something else we didn’t talk about,” Inky told Blinky.

“What is it?” Blinky turned around and asked.

“Where are we gonna put that door?” Inky asked.

“Oh wow uh we should just chuck it into another room,” Blinky thought aloud, hoping that would be good enough.

“Sounds great!” Inky responded.
A few aisles to the left, Pinky asked Bronze, “How did you become so resourceful?”

“I love technology, and technology makes it easier to solve any problems or answer any questions we’re having!” Bronze answered. “We looked up information on Pac-Man.”

“That’s great!” Pinky replied.

“He’s quite the interesting guy,” Bronze laughed.

“Believe me, we know all about it,” Pinky sighed. “I can’t
believe it has taken this long to catch him.”

“Right! And I can’t believe he hasn’t seemed to get tired of running away from you!” Bronze added.
Two aisles to the right, Violet whispered to Silver,

“Aren’t you getting tired of Greeny’s narcissism? Or have you at least noticed it?”

“Somewhat,” Silver whispered back. “I have noticed he’s pretty different around Blinky’s team. Which is a good thing.”

“Definitely,” Violet agreed. “Clyde has noticed it a lot. I talked to him when we were at our maze building yesterday. That’s why I was gone.”

“Oh OK. Have you tried talking to Greeny?” Silver asked.

“Not yet. I’ve just been testing him, like when I offered to carry the paint supplies bucket for him,” Violet answered.

“Hey guys, where’s Greeny at?” Clyde asked.
Violet turned around and told him, “He’s all the way down at the last aisle to your right.”

“Alright, thanks!” Clyde smiled. He turned to the right and started to head over there, but Violet stopped him.

“I’m so sorry you got stuck with him. I didn’t think about that,” Violet frowned.

“It’s OK. At least we’re just teaming up to look for supplies,” Clyde chuckled.

“Right, but Violet was telling me you’ve noticed how self-absorbed he is and it has made you upset. She told Bronze as well,” Silver replied.

“Yeah. I noticed that a while ago,” Clyde told him.

“I hope you know the rest of our team isn’t like that,” Silver pointed out. “We are a prank team, but we still care about each other. Our pranks give other ghosts a good laugh, and us too of course. We’re here for ya, man.”

“I know. The rest of you are cool,” Clyde assured them.

“Well I should get over there.” He rushed over to the last
aisle on the right, but Greeny wasn’t there. He hoped that Greeny didn’t overhear any of their conversation, even though they whispered everything.

“Greeny, I’m back. Where’d ya go?” Clyde shouted.

“Over here. I’m comin’,” Greeny replied. He came to Clyde
from one aisle to the left.

“Sorry about that,” Clyde said when he saw him.

“It’s OK,” Greeny smiled. He gave Clyde that same smile
that had been bothering him for a while.

“You didn’t find anything yet?” Clyde wondered.

“Nope. I already moved on to the next aisle. Let’s keep searching,” Greeny responded.
