And now for a story I would like to call, Why I gave this game a low score, this is one of the few games for DS I own, I do like to look around because I have a DS that still works quite well, and it would be nice if I could own several DS generation games. So in 2015 I was excited when I was at a flea market and saw this game and eagerly bought it, only to be met with disappointment, why? well I'll tell you why.
Gameplay and Story: Well this is technically a racing game so no story just play as a certain racer so you can unlock other racers and other courses. The back of the game states you can play as your favourite racer. There is just one problem with this, you don't play as the mean machine, in this game you have to avoid Dick Dasterdly's traps and all that stuff, you don't get to play as him which sucks because there are people out there (myself included) who would have wanted to play as the Mean Machine and that loses marks big time for me, if we controlled him he would have a better chance at winning, I mean even he won at least one race in Wacky Raceland, and come on didn't the game developers do their homework? everyone knows that even though Dick Dasterdly and Muttley are the Antagonists, they're the real stars of Wacky Races.
Graphics: Well what I really like about DS games is that everything looks the way it should like I'm actually watching an episode of the show.
Soundtrack: Well the soundtrack fits theming if you've seen the show you would agree.
Addictive: This wasn't addictive enough for me to want to keep playing.
Depth: I'm going to be honest I haven't played the game in years (the fact that the false advertising was a total turn off) during the races you will be caught in one of Dasterdly's traps you would have to quickly fix a tire or....actually I don't remember what else. For some reason I feel he would have had a better chance at winning if he didn't waste so much time with traps or some sneaky trick like when he impersonated an outlaw in one episode. I actually did see the reboot I like the animation and they added a couple of new characters (but several more were taken out, like they only added racers we gave the biggest craps about including Dasterdly and Muttley and oh my god we saw the narrator).
Difficulty: Well it's a racing game, it shouldn't be that difficult but man was it torture for my cheek muscles, that's right you have to blow into the mic in order to get the cars to go fast, did Mario Kart work that way as well? no wonder the game wasn't fun to play when I did an emulator of Mario Kart DS, well not long after that I ended up getting a sore throat (probably from all the blowing, it was February, of course something was going to catch up to me)
Post review Follow-Up: Well at least it's good to know that there are Wacky Races games out there where you can play as the Mean Machine, including Wacky Races for PC, I will play it one of these days, I just haven't burned myself a copy yet, since I finished Daytona USA it would be nice to replace it with another racing game.
This concludes my review, join me tomorrow when I review......The Amazon Trail for PC.
