Yesterday was my first day off in July so I wanted to do something fun. Originally I was going to walk to Target to buy Pokemon cards and then stay home the whole day but then at the last second I chose to go to the mall.

Not just any mall though, the American Dream mall. Ever since the mall was first announced years ago, I always wanted to go, so I went yesterday to finally see what it was like. The mall itself is an entire experience because it's the 2nd biggest mall in all of America and has so much to do.

The only problem was that 60% of the building was still under construction and it was very far, I had to take two commuter trains and a bus into another state to go. But even with more than half the building closed, there was still so much to do. I got to the mall at 1:30 and left at 8PM and walked a total of 15,000 steps inside the one building, or around 7 miles.

I did a lot of shopping, but I'd say around 300 of the 400+ stores haven't opened yet. But the main draw of this mall is the attractions. There's an indoor water park, an indoor theme park, a giant ice skating rink, a snow slope, an aquarium, mini golf, and other cool stuff.

I even got to try alligator meat.

Some cool photos.

For the record, the largest one is the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. There's so much to see and do there that you could easily spend all day at it if that's your thing.

I think I'll stick with online shopping, especially since most of the local-ish malls were half dead before covid killed the urge to hang out at massive retailers all day.

Noyb42 : Once this entire mall is fully open, I think it will give Mall of America a run for it's money because the big attractions like the water park, amusement park, snowboarding slope, and others add a lot of space in addition to the the shopping sections.

If the entire building was open when I went, I probably would have pushed 10-15 miles of walking inside of the building.
