Hello, I want to start by saying I've done a lot of research on how to configure my 4k setup over the past few years but I always end up going in circles and at this point I'd just like to do something and live with it.
I originally wanted to try to get the most video quality out of my consoles as I could without spending too much. Previously I just used composite video on all my consoles and to be honest, I don't think it bothered me that much so I don't want to spend a lot on something that I probably won't notice too much difference from since I won't have another reference.
The consoles I regularly play are:
NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube (Yes, I know the last two are against the rules, but this post isn't about them directly so it's okay right? The Gamecube is mostly for playing Game Boy games anyway.) I could live without support for the genesis as that's the console I play the least.
I thought my TV (LG CX) was supposed to come with an analog adaptor for composite video, but it wasn't in the box and LG told me they no longer include it. I'd like to put the money I would spend on this towards my new setup instead.
Right now, I'm considering a Retrotink 2X-MINI and just use the composite cables that came with the consoles. Is there a better solution that I'm missing that's under, say $120?
I'm an electronics hardware engineer and skilled at soldering so I am very comfortable with hardware mods if that will improve the video output of some of my consoles and don't require buying expensive kits.
I have a CRT, but it's kind of crappy and the screen is much smaller than my new TV, and my migraines are triggered worse with it, so I don't really want to use that.
Thanks for the help.
