What could Pokemon Game Gym be?

You probably never heard of Pokemon Game Gym before, right? But what could it be? Today I was doing my usual amount of snooping across the internet and found this little piece of information on a Japanese website. Apparently, on March 16th, 2020 both Nintendo and Game Freak together filed a trademark for the name Pokemon Game Gym.


I found this interesting for two reasons.

1. There was a logo associated with the trademark, an actual design. Not even the trademarks for Pokemon Cafe Mix, Snap, or Unite had logos associated with their trademarks, they were just names.

2. Game Freak is associated with this trademark. The 3 previously mentioned games, Cafe Mix, Snap, and Unite were all trademarked solely by Nintendo.

The first thing that came to my mind upon seeing this was "get fit with Machoke as your personal trainer" xD

Seriously speaking, it would be fun if you could get fit alongside your Pokemon. They already surprised us with GO, having us walk around the city to catch 'em all, so some interaction like this can't be entirely discarded. The fact Game Freak is also behind this is what makes me doubtful this option will be the winner.

It could also be some sort of Gym challenge in the way we know gyms in the Pokemon universe. Similar mechanics have been found in games of other series like Yu-Gi-Oh! or even Dragon Ball, where you have to fight the anime roster and/or participate in the same challenges and tournaments they did. It would be interesting to see how could you form a team in this game, there are multiple possibilities as to what games could it link to.

We will get information about this in the Direct planned to announce all the celebrations for the franchise, so the countdown is on. We'll see soon enough what will they surprise us with.

Honestly I don't even have a guess after Pokémon sleep and the one where you brush your teeth with Pokémon I've given up trying to speculate if anything I hope it's like Palen said with the whole fights from the anime I would love that and have wanted something like that for years but I won't get my hopes up or anything.
