The movie I believe you are talking about is Dawn of the Dead. There is the 1978 original and the 2004 remake, and Samuel L. Jackson isn't in any of them. I believe you got confused with Ken Foree from the 1978 original and/or Ving Rhames from the 2004 remake. Hope this helped!
