So Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a thing, not only is the world imploding, but we're getting dream releases that nobody would have thought a few years ago.

Not only does it include Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy. But it also seemingly has 16:9 for Sunshine, maybe 60FPS but that's to be seen. At the moment it's the cheapest and best way to get Sunshine as the original copy is $100+ and for a GameCube.

But there is also annoyance that not only is it a limited physical release, but a limited digital release as well, and you know what that means?

It's recommended to get it while it's still in pre-order or new, cause once it's gone, I can be 100% sure it's going to be a rare game going for hundreds.

What are your thoughts on it? Are you getting it? Are you frustrated with the artificial scarcity?

Got mine on preorder(physical and Walmart has a preorder bonus) can't wait to use the music player to listen to while raiding

I'm super excited about the game as I've 100%ed Mario 64 5 times and am always down for playing that game again as it instantly became one of my favorite games of all time even tho I didn't play it till late 2012. As much as I love Mario 64 I'm even more excited to play Mario Sunshine cause it's the only 3D Mario game I've never 100%ed and for some reason at some point that became a goal of mine and I always enjoy doing so to finally have easy access to the game to play will be amazing. Galaxy would be more hype for me if galaxy 2 came with it I mean maybe it'll be fun with the joycons but I might just stick with my wii for galaxy, what I do hate about this tho is the timed release forcing me to spend bday money or a Christmas gift on it asap instead of waiting when normally I would wanna save money incase something insane came out of no where like when Persona 4 Golden was released on steam.

i got it from switch's Snes entertainment online and it is cool. i have 12 months free of switch membership with the game tetris 99.

My friend made the point that they're essentially just repackaging crap and selling it at a $60 physical price tag. I'm not sure what to think honestly.

They removed "So long gay Bowser." And that's unacceptable.

Where do we go from here? And if my only option is a horrible $100 Fingerhut copy, do I still bite?

pennylessz : i heard that they might be making another Mario game for the switch too. it might be a remastered ones like final fantasy 8 remastered on steam and final fantasy crystal Chronicles remastered on the switch for $20. plus it a anniv. game for nintendo. 35 years now

Personally, I don't understand why exactly they're making it limited, that seems like just a waste of money to buy. But that's simply how I feel, I know there will be people who think otherwise and I respect that, I just wanted to state my personal opinion on it.

Making it limited release is weird but lots of games have done it, especially for the switch. The most notable example is Fitness Boxing. A physical copy is listed as $25 at Gamestop but they stopped sending out stock a long time ago.

From a marketing standpoint it's genius. It's forcing everyone who wants it to get it in a short amount of time.

Lets say there was no limited release and it went on to sell like 3 million copies a year for 5 years, that would be 15 million total. If people are forced to buy for a certain time, in theory all 15 million could be sold in a matter of months, not spread out over years.

so the only option is pre order otherwise gone, that sucks man talk about a bad business deal.
Hopefully they'll keep it on the shelf after they realize this error that they made.

Sunshine is the only one that I haven't played out of the collection, and if anything I'd rather own the original version of it so I don't think I'll be purchasing. Still a really cool collection though!

I ended up trading my copy in. Gamestop was having a really good promo and while I loved the idea of having three pretty big Mario games, I figured that if I really wanted to play it again, I can always just buy back a copy before they stop selling them, preferably a digital copy next time though.

i bought mine at nintendo switch eshop and also rented it on gamefly after i read that the game will be avalable until end of march 2021, so i'm like oh i still time then.

Recalling my original post in this thread, it's pretty unfortunate that this is still being taken off the store soon. It does look like this is the definitive version of Sunshine, but now that Nintendo has further embraced limited time games, I still have to stand against this for the sake of stopping them from continuing.
