I'm kinda laughing a bit by the title, wow my taste in comedy has devolved. But in any case, the rich is something that is inherent to something, like in an MMO there are going to be people super OP if you get into it years after it's released. The thing however, is that IRL there is a overwhelming favoritism towards the rich, and a severe pattern of preventing anyone else from being rich themselves. I wouldn't say the existence of a billionaire is immoral, but the act of preventing others from becoming one is.

Boured : I agree that it is immoral to prevent others from being rich. I have learned in my classes about corporations that have done a lot of things to keep themselves on top and reject the competition.

Magma_Cube : I've been learning about how much power corporations have in one of my classes, and it's crazy. One big problem a documentary called The Corporation addresses is that a corporation has the same rights as a person. And I would add that sometimes they might have a lot more rights than a person.

It would take thousands of years to make one billion dollars working minimum wage every single day. There is no reason anyone should have that much money. Nobody's job is worth several million dollars an hour.

pennylessz : That's mind-blowing. I hadn't realized how crazy that is even though I've heard of people pretty much making millions of dollars an hour. I think it's great when people who are millionaires/billionaires donate generously to important causes. But even then, it's still crazy for someone to be so rich.

Pacman+Mariofan : That's the thing though, philanthropy is essentially what a billionaire does in order to increase public image. After all, not many people are pro billionaires. So when they do this, the media gets to highlight it and say "Look at how wonderful our rich people are, they economy is working!", this works, and people don't question the ridiculous notion of owning a billion dollars. Many of the generous donations they make are targeted at things that have essentially no impact on them as well, so even if the issue is important, they often do something on a much smaller scale. It's really calculated, and kind of shows you the sort of mentality you need to even get a billion dollars.
