Years ago when I started remaking the site's layout, some of the layouts stopped displaying properly (specifically talking about the ones that fit). This was the results of an update I made which would shrink down images that exceeded 100% of it's containers width (that was put into place so that images wouldn't destroy the thread's layout). The problem is, this also shrunk down images in layouts.

After a few years, I think I finally fixed this issue. Now I'm not sure if this made some layouts worse but I can confirm that my old layout looks like it should:

For now, I've worked around it by setting my layout to an exact size. It is now 740px across. It previously was set at "100%" as the size, since that would ensure it fit across to the other side, no matter how big someone's monitor was.

740 works for me, but with someone on a smaller or bigger monitor, it will look slightly different, which sucks for them.

Actually was the one who helped me figure out the errors in the coding, and why I couldn't get the desired effect. I came up with the exact pixelage, but that was about the extent of what I did, beyond double checking my code.

Boured : Another thing I did was have it automatically disable layouts if a screen is too small. Sacrifices have to be made somewhere on a small device and that was the first sacrifice. What device and resolution are you using?

The only difference in color I've noticed has been in the boxes that layouts reside in, like to the left and right of this post.

legacyme3 : Yeah I changed that to a different CSS class that I made for the site years ago. The class doesn't use borders and has a slightly different appearance. The reason I had to go with that look instead has everything to do with how the site deals with posts now. When the browser shrinks, it first removes the layout, then the right panel, and then the left panel. With the border look, it would remove the side panels but the borders would stay and so you would have an ugly 3 pixel wide border on the side that just looked really odd.
