So what did I think of Birds of Prey? Well for starters it was a lot better than what I thought it was going to be like.

I wasn't that big a fan of Suicide Squad. While I liked many of the visuals and some of the action, the rest seemed pretty bland. But Birds of Prey was a really nice change of pace because the tone, style, and humor was on the other end of the spectrum. It felt more like a Quentin Tarantino or Matthew Vaughn movie than anything else.

In fact, the big fight at the end made me think of the church fight in Kingsmen: The Secret Service.

For a movie that's primarily about Harley Quinn, I really think that the rest of the cast and characters were the ones who stole the show. For example Elizabeth Mary Winstead played Huntress and Ewan McGregor played Black Mask.

You don't really see much of Huntress until the third act but her personality and dialogue really builds a nice character. As for Black Mask, McGregor puts on a really captivating performance that shows what a true villain should be like. He's cold, crazy, and calculated, the 3 C's of being a very good villain.

When it came to the overall action, it felt much better than most DC movies. There was more style and heart in each fight scene with plenty of humor that actually worked well with the action. There are too many films that fail at trying to merge action with humor and Birds of Prey was one of the ones that nailed it.

Overall, I really enjoyed it, though the first act was more of a narration of the plot than anything else, and there was a lot of info crammed in which might make it hard to keep up. My score for Birds of Prey is a 90 out of 100.

I heard it was a pile of hot garbage and won't pay to see it ever.

I wonder when Hollywood will learn that these "feminist" movies aren't going to get over with large enough audiences to be worth making.

Thankfully it seems like some franchises have learned from this mistake and are moving away from it (Ghostbusters) and maybe more will follow suit.
