Okay, I am playing Pokemon Gold on here, and I noticed that my Sandshrew now has
poison sting (I believe that's what it is called) and my Croconaw has scratch, which Sandshrew had before but now does not though Spinarak does not have the poison sting, though does have night shade which it learned...

IDK what happened here, but it seems like they all switched moves! LOL! Anyways, now, Spinarak basically sucks without poison sting because night shade doesn't work on all Pokemon, and constrict sucks overall.

Anyways, I don't feel like going and catching another Spinarak and raising it and yada, yada... Is there a way I can just switch the moves back, somehow?

hmmm, alright... I'm still wondering how they got switched in the first place. I'm pretty positive, that, uh... Sandshrew doesn't learn poison sting! Or whatever, haha.

But thank you.

Hold on, wait, I'm checking Bulbapedia... I believe it can, let me see... In Gen IV, Sandshrew does learn poison sting, at level 9. Let me check Gen II... Yup, at level 17... what level is yours? It could just be a glitch, it is an old game...

Mine is at LVL 17, hmm... Maybe it learned it, but didn't tell me, and took it from Spinarak and gave scratch to Croconaw... Or some crazy scenario! But, I don't ever remember deleting any of Spinarak's move to get a new one.

So, I am guessing there is no way to switch moves around unless you have the TM?

*Off-topic but yay, my spearow is now a fearow.*

Croconaw always had Scratch, it's Totodile's first move. And Sandshrew has always had Poison Sting. Level 24 in Gen 1, level 17 in Gen 2 and 3, and level 9 in Gen 4. Spinarak starts with Poison Sting, so unless you accidentally delated it or caught it after if learned Night Shade. Or if you gave it to the daycare center and it learned Night Shade there, if Poison Sting was on top of the list of it's moves, it would take that away. But I'm pretty sure it's not a glitch, what level is your Spinarak at?

It may have been a glitch but the evidence suggests you just moved some moves around and learnt some new ones and just forgot about it.
It happens.
The only way to relearn those forgotten moves would be though TMs or a Move relearner.
But I don't think there's a Move relearner on Pokemon Gold...

Nope, only in Pokemon Stadium 2... and even that takes a lot of work. Sorry man, I guess you're stuck.

IDK - it's in it's twenties, and it evolved (no longer Spinarak). I think this is what happened, because I had both Spinarak and Sandshrew in the daycare and scratch was deleted and it learned poison sting, and Spinarak's poison sting was deleted and it learned string shot! I guess it was a huge misunderstanding, and I guess I didn't realize that Crocanaw had it the whole time.

And yes, poison sting was on the top as was scratch - so both those were deleted to learn new moves!

Thanks everyone!
