Over the past year and a half, I've gotten really into the Legend of Heroes franchise of games. I started with the game Trails of Cold Steel, which was ported/remastered over to the PS4. Since then, I've played the next two Cold Steel games, and am anxiously awaiting the fourth (and the "final" sub-series in the series, Trails of the End)

I've also begun play of the Trails in the Sky series, as I'm about halfway through the first game.

It's really cool to see how the games all connect to each other, and there's a lot of political intrigue at play, especially once you get really deep into the lore.

Has anyone else played this series?

Not the biggest fan but I'll be playing Trails of Cold Steel III when it comes out for the Switch, just put a deposit on it when I traded in games yesterday.

Though I never played the 2nd one, just skipped over from the 1st.

zanderlex :

While you don't have to play every game in the series... I would strongly, strongly recommend you at least watch a story playthrough of the games. Because while Cold Steel 3 is great as a stand alone game, you will have a harder time connecting to the main character (Rean) if you don't have at least a basic understanding of what he's been through.

The biggest strength of the series is also its biggest weakness. That there's a lot of character development, but that to experience it, you need to actually experience all the games!

Thankfully, this only extends to the first two Cold Steel games if you are looking to catch up there.

Reviving this thread with the EXCELLENT news that Trails of Cold Steel IV is coming out this fall to PS4!

I'm so beyond hyped. I've already pre-ordered the collector's edition of it. Now we just need a date for the porting of the Crossbell series, and for the localization of the "Trails of the End" and every Trails game will be in America!
