There's a huge trash conglomerate in the middle of the ocean that's several time the size of Hawaii, probably around 30 - 40x actually. This heap is called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. I wouldn't call it great, but it's definitely trash.

To make matters worse, there's actually several large garbage patches around the world. This is sadly a trend.

I heard cleanup efforts started being made a few years ago, but I doubt the fish really appreciated the mess in the first place.

I never heard of it, and it's a shame.

The sad part is that I know plenty of people who would say that it's better in the ocean than near people and that there's plenty of space in the ocean to do this.

I have! Not that I'm happy about it but aside from doing my part when it comes to buying and recycling products there isn't much more I can do as an individual.

I'm happy that organizations are starting to take action! I think some girl even won some science prize for coming up with a way to get some type of plastic out of the ocean with magnetic waves or something, I can't exactly remember.

I have heard about it before, we did a lesson about it one day in class and we saw a video of it on youtube, although that was a little while back so I can hardly imagine how big it potentially would be by now. Although I have been noticing more ads on volunteering and charities as a whole a lot more than I used to so it's nice to see that this stuff is getting much more awareness than it used to.

I've actually never heard about it before, and frankly that isn't fun. I kinda drink water and eat the fish in the sea so having it with trash isn't very desirable. I'm glad there are efforts being taken to get things cleaner.
