I listen to spooky stories at night, all the time. In fact, I do it immediately before bed pretty frequently. The only issue is that I have a huge glass patio door right next to where I sleep. I swear, every noise just sends me into a panic. One time, I saw a light outside, coming from the camper we have out back. Everyone said it was probably just light from the neighbors. But why was it coming from the window? Then, when the lights are off. I tend to peer out the window, because I'm paranoid that someone is looking in. My girlfriend says she does this too. Do you ever do that? Have you ever listened to people read creepypastas or things from Reddit online? I primarily listen to Lazy Masquerade, he has such a nice voice. Corpse Husband was cool too, but he apparently has mental health issues as of late.
