Ok i have been thinking about making a pokemon gba hack and was wondering how hard it would be. I was thinking either a yellow or crystal remake but I'm leaning more towards yellow. So how hard do you guys think it would be and what tools and files would i need? also should i use fire red or leaf green?

If you use a GBA ROM like Leaf Green or Fire Red, you can use a program called Advanced Map to hack the Maps and Wild Pokemon Data. To do any thing more than that, you'd need some serious programming skills in whatever language the Nintendo used to write them. I haven't even figured out some of the more advanced features of Advanced Map yet, but it's a good place to start.

If some one could please tell me or link me to a guide on how to use script editors and hex editors that would be much appreciated.
EDIT: *bashes head against wall* I have spent all night try to gt the rival to walk over and steal the pokemon off the table and cant figure it out! I must be missing something but i have never made a hack before so i have no idea what it is. If anyone knows what to do please tell me.
