Lots of people love racing games. Even those who don't can probably like them after giving them a shot. What are your favorites?

For a few years my favorite was NASCAR 98 and then that was overtaken by Gran Turismo 2. That was my favorite racing game until about a month ago when I decided that I wanted to try out Need for Speed: Payback.

At that point I had never played a Need for Speed game in my life and most of the older ones left a bad impression on me.

Not this one though, it quickly became my favorite racing game AND my favorite driving game ever. Love the story, the nO, the cars, and the amazing controls.

For me those 3 are all better than any other racing game, especicially Forza

What about you? What racing games do you love or play the most?

I don't play a ton of racing games, but my favorite is definitely Need for Speed Most Wanted. I love how it's and open world game in addition to a racing game, and you can travel around finding new cars and messing with the police.

Probably not the answer you'd expect, but I'd have to go with Mario Kart Wii. I really liked the characters, tracks, and almost everything about the game overall. I also really like Mario Kart 8, but I'm not a fan of the fact that the Koopalings hog up half the roster and the battling is lackluster at best. I only have Mario Kart 8 for Wii U and plan to get it for Switch, which I've heard has a few extras when compared to the Wii U version. It's possible my opinion could change after playing it, but for now I stand by my answer of Mario Kart Wii.

tgags123 : Most Wanted is probably the only other Need for Speed game that I would ever even consider playing. I've heard lots of praise for that one with a ton of other gamers saying it's the best in the series.

SacredShadow: Lol I guess I forgot about the Mario Kart games. Those are good too but I haven't really had enough experience with them to call them my favorites.

tgags123 : Yeah that's what I really want from a racing game, the fun. With most games I want cool action or a very good story, or great mechanics, but for me, with all sports games, I only really care about the fun.

If you're talking about cartoony racing games, I'd probably have to go with the Mario Kart series, simply because I haven't played the latest games in that series and because it was probably the most fun racing series I've actually played.

If you're talking about realistic racing games, I haven't played too many of them, but the one I remember enjoying the most was Asphalt: Urban GT on the DS. It had amazing visuals for a DS game, and it actually had racing mechanics that I could have fun with.

I'm going with the F-Zero series, but if you want me to pick a specific title, then it's F-Zero X: Expansion Kit. The sense of speed, the track designs, the very high customization possibilities. Those are all reasons for me to call this my favorite racing game. Now all that's missing is a career mode of sorts...

Racing is my favorite videogame genre, so I've played lots of titles on any console I've owned. I haven't been extremely disappointed by them, I only remember one such case, so in a sense I love them all each on its own way.

For racing simulators, I must pick Project Cars 2 as my favorite. The historical tracks it features pleases the heart of every diehard racing fan, the ability to race in all kinds of climate conditions, the addition of Rallycross for sidebumping action at its finest... It has its flaws, for sure, but out of all the sims I've had over the years, this one stands out way more than the Gran Turismo games.

I tried my hand at several Need for Speed games, and while they are lots of fun they're not really sim racers. I absolutely loved Hot Pursuit for PS3, the many things you could do and the many cars available made it spectacular, though it lacked the usual free roam most NFS games have. Carbon was also very nice, though I admit I was a bit disappointed on the performance of certain cars.

For fantasy racing games... Man, that's more difficult. For a long time I've treasured F-Zero GX, I love everything about that game and mostly the music, which is rare for me as I tend to ignore gaming music at large. I also have good memories of Crash Team Racing, which have been revived after the announcement of its remake, and the two sequels it spawned weren't too bad either.

However, for true fantasy racing, I go with Motorstorm Pacific Rift. It may seem like a sim racer, but trust me, such cars in such tracks is pure insanity only possible in videogames. I tried its sequel, Motorstorm Apocalypse, and while it was infinitely more insane (driving through skyscrapers, amidst a tornado or an earthquake), I somehow liked more Pacific Rift. I preferred going all out in a School Bus through lava fields rather than through a track that changed every lap because it was being destroyed by the force of nature as the action unfolded.

I really enjoyed the Need for Speed underground games because you got to build and upgrade your cars. I used to play Rock N Roll Racing and Top Gear 2 form the SNES and both of those games were designed around a system of making money to buy upgrades to your cars. I really enjoyed that style of game.

Based on my picks you can tell it's been a long time since I played a racing game

I play a lot of Forza. I have all the Horizons, and love the arcade/realism mix they bring. The best ones Forza Horizon 3, it's really up there in top tier racing games.

Clovertheclever : Whenever I'm at Gamestop I always see the XBox man and he's playing the newest Forza. It looks good and all but I don't understand the popularity really.

I play mostly Forza, because it's the big title on XBOX. My favorite of all time though was SRS: Street Racing Syndrome on PS2
