It's not very often a superstar hits the open market in Major League Baseball. It's even more rare for a superstar player to hit the open market in their mid-twenties. This offseason, however, we have not one, but TWO 26-year-old superstar free agents. Their names are Bryce Harper and Manny Machado. While Harper is considered to be the more valuable of the two, Machado would be quite the pickup for any team. Despite his controversial antics in the playoffs and comments about not hustling, Machado is unquestionably a very skilled player. In six and a half seasons in the MLB, Machado has been named to four all-star teams, won two Gold Glove awards at third base, and has accumulated a bWAR of 33.8. Like Harper, the Phillies, White Sox, and Yankees have been three teams that have been linked to Machado for some time now. He met with all three, and it is believed that he would prefer to play for the Yankees. Money is also factor however, and it is unknown which of the teams (if any) are willing to give him the $300 million he wants. Where do you think Machado will end up? Will he sign with one of the three teams he met with? Will a mystery team appear and offer him more money?

As for Machado, I feel like the Yankees are probably the obvious choice. Mostly because of all the rumors and silly jokes of him liking certain Yankees stuff on social media and a few reporters also said that the Yankees were top choice. It's win win if the Yankees get him because if he wants to stay at SS, they can slide Didi to 3rd and move Andujar for a nice haul.

They get Machado, they don't have to worry about the future salary of Andujar, and they can get some top level talent or a superstar rental for Andujar.

Like Harper, I'd think the White Sox are next on the list. I don't think there's really a mystery team for him, it will probably be one of those three.

zanderlex : As a Yankees fan, if the Yankees were to get Machado, I would like to see Andujar moved to 1B when Didi comes back from injury instead of trading him. I love Andujar, and while he is a liability at 3B, maybe he'd be better at 1B, which is undeniably an easier position to play. I wouldn't be completely opposed to trading him, but I would prefer not to.

I also hope signing Machado doesn't mean letting Didi walk when his contract is up. Didi is a great player, and is basically the captain of the team. He's also one of the only lefty hitters they have.

tgags123 : You wouldn't trade Andujar at the trade deadline and get one or two top MLB players who have 1 year left or for some top prospects? He's going to get a lot of money in the future, it might not be worth it in the end really.

zanderlex : I would have to evaluate it at the time, when Didi comes back from injury. If Voit and/or Bird are playing well, I would be ok with it. But if Voit regresses and Bird continues to be terrible, I would rather keep Andujar and play him at 1B. The Yankees are in win-now mode. If keeping Adujar's bat in the lineup over Bird or Voit is a significant enough difference to get them a ring, that's what I would prefer to do.

tgags123 : What do you think the Yankees will do if they don't get Machado? How will the infield look until everyone's healthy and then what happens from there?

Who would you pick for the Yankees between Machado and Harper based on price and who's already on the team?
