I won't be going to see anymore movies for the rest of the year because of an issue with my payment for A-List. That won't get taken care of until either Friday or Saturday and I doubt I'm going to see anything else over the weekend unless it's Mary Poppins or Holmes and Watson (Which I don't have extremely high hopes for)

So here are my overall movie ranks for 2018.

In total, I have gone to the movies 129 times in 2018. Thanks to 6 months of MoviePass and 6 months of A-List, I only paid a grand total of $180 this year on movie tickets. And a good chunk of those movies were premiere tickets including 3D, Dolby, and IMAX, which normally cost over $20 each.

Here are my top 10 favorite 2018 movies.

10. Searching
This movie was ingenious. It used only TV, phone, and computer screens for the whole thing and it worked really well. People thought it would be like one of those standard "camera" movies but it was the complete opposite. It's an amazing story with lots of twists and turns and a good chunk of the movie is really thrilling.

9. American Animals
Like Searching, this movie was really thrilling. It was even more thrilling because it was an event that actually happened. Half of the movie was a fictional thriller while the other half was the actual people involved talking about what happened so it was a crazy fiction documentary hybrid. It was funny, intense, and disturbing. The movie had some really good actors playing the real people too. It was never a dull moment.

8. Ralph Breaks the Internet
I really likes the first movie so I knew this was going to be really good but this one blew right past all of my expectations and quickly became one of my most favorite animated movies of all time. Most of this was because of spot on humor. There were so many good jokes and parodies throughout the movie and lots of good memes as well. All of the new characters were amazing too such as Shank, the princesses, and Spamly. Within two weeks of this coming out, I already saw it more times than I saw the first movie.

7. Tomb Raider
When I was a kid I loved the old Tomb Raider games so I was really excited for a new movie. It didn't fail because seeing all the new action on the big screen was incredible. Lots of the movie seemed to drag on but there were a couple scenes that looked amazing and magical. The story is okay and for an origin, it's pretty good, but the real reason to watch this were the graphics. It was so much fun, it was like watching one of those cheesy disaster flicks but with sweet action.

6. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse
When I first saw the trailers for this. I knew it was going to be special because of the graphics but nobody could prepare me for what it really was. This is easily the best Marvel movie ever for me. The humor was great, the character development and interactions were great too, but the real star of the show was the animation. It was a crazy looking montage of beautiful and insane color schemes and effects. It was like looking through a kaleidescope that was being struck by lightning. It made me think back to Genndy Tartakovsky and his work such as Samurai Jack and The Powerpuff Girls and that's a really good thing.

5. Game Night
Game Night is going to hold a very special place in my heart for many years. It's one of the funniest movies that I have ever seen. It follows a group of friends and families as they try to play a game and you know, things go wrong. Like so wrong. It's perfect, especially the acting by Rachael McAdams. She has some amazing lines. This is one of just four movies that I have ever seen in theaters 3 times and I would have seen it more times if I could drag people to watch it.

There are plenty of scenes that are just too much. Like the scene where the main stars are trying to take a bullet out of someone's arm. Or the scene by a plane. Or the scenes involving a table. Or blood. Trust me if you see the movie all those will make you laugh.

4. Sicario: Day of the Soldado
When this movie came out, I had never seen the first movie. However it was something that I always wanted to see because one of my favorite actresses was in it. She wasn't in the second one but I randomly decided that I should give it a shot and I didn't regret it. In fact this is the first movie in 5 years that I gave a 100% to on my "Prisoners Scale" which is based on the movie Prisoners and I use it to grade a movie based soley on how much better it was than I expected it to be.

Less than 10 minutes into the movie I was on the edge of my seat and telling myself "this movie is so disturbing." Just the first few scenes are packed with so much violence, drama, and suspense. The movie only got even more intense from there. The movie is about war and the U.S. Government wants to start a war between multiple cartels and to do that they kidnap the daughter of one of the cartel bosses.

They make it look like a rival cartel did it and they make it look like they rescued her and were going to return her to her father, even though they were the ones who kidnapped her. It can be a very confusing movie but if you pay attention it's full of emotion too but mainly a ton of thrills and drama, the kind that need your full and undivided attention and make you forget where you are.

The cool thing is, even if you take away all the thrills snd trauma, it's still a very good movie. The acting on everybody's part is amazing, especially from Benicio Del Toro, who kills it in every scene (both acting wise and hit man assassin wise.) The music is also really good and gives some intense vibes to the movie. I really hope that they end up making a third movie and that it will be as good as this one or even better.

3. Bad Times at the El Royale
If you want to see Chris Hemsworth do his best impression of Taylor Lautner, then this movie is for you. If you want thrills, then this movie is for you. If you want to be disturbed and then disturbed some more, then this movie is for you. Bad Times has kind of the same amount of thrills and disturbing content as Sicario but most of the time it goes right from one to the next with nothing in between. It even has some humor in it as well. For the most part it's one of those movies that commands your full attention.

2. Isle of Dogs
LOL. It's a pun. It's I Love Dogs.

Until Mission: Impossible came out, this was my favorite movie of the year. It's also the movie that began a true love for Wes Anderson. Before I saw this, the only movie I saw by him was The Grand Budapest Hotel but ever since I first saw the trailer for this I was super excited to see it. One thing that I really liked about the movie is that it had a crazy amount of big shot actors and actresses, especially considering it's an animated movie.

The movie had Jeff Goldblum, Bryan Cranston, Scarlett Johanson, and so many others that I either can't remember or can't spell. The art style was great, and because it was a stop motion movie, it means that so much effort went into creating beautiful set pieces and landscapes, even some that were only seen for a second or two. The amount of detail that was put into every little thing is awesome.

One reason I loved the movie is that it was a perfect blend of drama, emotion, and over the top humor. There were plenty of times where I would watch it and be sad during one scene but laugh at how ridiculous it was in the next. It really was classic Wes Anderson because he has a very unique style for comedy, violence, and art, and they were all on display in full force here.

No matter how good any one aspect was, I will always think that the music was the best part of the movie. The music fit in perfectly with the action and setting, and it was all composed by one of the more well known Hollywood composers, so you know it's going to be good. To me, Wes is one of the four best directors ever and as long as he keeps putting out movies, I'm going to keep on watching them and hoping that they keep getting better.

1. Mission: Impossible - Fallout
This is easily the best movie that I have seen all year for a number of reasons. If you have seen it, then you will probably agree with me on at least one of those reasons, maybe even more. Throughout the movie you see amazing acting, effects, stunts, emotions, story, and everything in between.

The thing I like the most is that it's actually Tom Cruise doing all of his stunts, even the really dangerous ones. He jumped out of a plane at 25,000 feet, he learned how to fly a helicopter, and he even broke his ankle running across rooftops. All the scenes where he actually did the stunts were breathtaking and make you wonder how he hasn't killed himself yet.

The story can be confusing but it's so much fun and if you have seen the older movies, there are so many references to them, especially the 1st, 3rd, and 5th movies. As for actors, Cruise and Cavill killed it with emotion, drama, and humor and everyone else who was involved was brilliant, especially Alec Baldwin's character.

Another thing I loved about the movie was the music. The movie tool the classic soundtracks and added so much more to make it feel more traumatic at times but also more fun and energetic. I've always been a fan of the theme song but nit really the rest of the soundtrack and this movie changes that.

If this was going to be the last movie in the series, I would have been pretty content but there's some stuff I wish they did such as reveal why Jeremy Renner's character wasn't involved or go more in depth into where the characters go from there. But to me it's definitely the best of all the movies in the series and is one of my favorite movies of all time right now. If they do want to do a 7th movie, they're going to have to send Cruise to space in order to one up his stunts and a sequel would have to be perfect in order to even warrant having another one.

Honorable Mentions:
Love, Simon
Ready Player One
Anna and the Apocalpyse
Mortal Engines
Sorry to Bother You
The Incredibles 2

Unfortunately, I have yet to see many of the 2018 movies, I usually sit down and watch most of them in January before the Oscars. My early impressions though are that A Quite Place may be my favorite on so far.

I have yet to see Roma and Ilse of Dogs which may be top contenders.

I don't usually love action movies, so I doubt Mission Impossible will make it on my top list, but I'll have to see.

I'll probably post about it when I give my Oscar predictions later next month.

I don't have a top ten list or anything... just a list of movies I saw that I really enjoyed.

Mission Impossible: Fallout
A Quiet Place
Avengers: Infinity War
Halloween
Annihilation
Unsane
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Creed 2
Tomb Raider

I'm sure I missed some because my list seems to be horror or sci-fi mostly but I'm okay with that. It's most of what I watch

Was disappointed to see nobody talk about Infinity War but I'm glad geeo mentioned it. I have no doubt in my mind that End Game is gonna be even better but for now, Infinity War is my favorite super hero movie ever. I may be a little biased since I have been watching the MCU for 10 years, since I was 8, but aaa it's so good. Very excited for next year.

I also just saw Spiderverse 2 days ago and it was so good, surpassed my expectations by a lot, really hoping it gets a sequel or something. It's my 2nd favorite Spider-Man movie right behind Spider-Man 2. I can't go into detail as to WHY it's so high up on the list because of spoilers, but I highly suggest it to anyone.

I'm a Star Wars geek and a Han Solo geek, so my favorite movie of 2018 was absolutely, definitely, no-questions-asked Solo: A Star Wars Story. I saw it three times in the theater (including once on opening night) and I got filled with a rush of Star Wars high every time. The script is so amazing and hilarious and Alden Ehrenreich is, believe it or not, PERFECT as a younger Han who's learning the ropes about being a smuggler and starting to grow into the awesome scoundrel he'll become later. If they had gotten Han wrong, I'd have been ranting my head off, but they got my Han so totally RIGHT.

Other favorites include:

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Won't You Be My Neighbor
Avengers: Infinity War
Black Panther
A Quiet Place
Mary Poppins Returns
Ralph Breaks the Internet
Incredibles 2
First Man
Aquaman
Bohemian Rhapsody
Boy Erased
Early Man

LieselSolo : I liked Solo for the origin stuff but I wasn't a fan of certain parts. I liked how he got his name and how he met Chewy as well as the run.

Probably one my top 5 Star Wars movies though.

The only mocied you listed that I didn't see was Boy Erased and Won't You Be My Neighbor How were they?

Most of those movies I saw 2-3 times lol.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
