Adding friends and sending PM's can be easily abused as I don't think there's a way to log those actions.

Having too many decimal values can make the CP count look like a mess as well. Maybe set the page view limit to 5-10 CP a day and give .1 for every view?

Furret : That works good. I'd set limit to 10 CP points for page views per day, that is a 1000 page views total max which should be plenty.

I think maybe private messages, comments and friends should follow similar amounts. The amounts are so small that it would be worthless to abuse them!

Edit: I updated list in original post with same values, we can alter if one needs more cp per action.

JigSaw : I guess with a limit that would work.

If anyone sits through the process of adding 500 friends every day then they deserve the 10 CP lol

I feel like this can be taken advantage of easily. Even if the CP limits are low, it can become an easy vessel for a ton of spam and abuse overtime.

Let's say someone can add 100 friends a day and get 10 CP. Yeah 10 CP in a day is nowhere near being a lot but what if a user adds 100 friends and then the next day this user deletes those 100 friends and then adds the same ones back. Then imagine this goes on for a month. This user gets 300 CP adding and deleting the same 100 friends and these 100 users get a notification every single day about being added to this users friend list. Abuse and can be annoying.

The same goes for sending messages. A user can get 10 CP a day sending one word messages to 100 different users or even just copy and paste the same message to the same user 100 times. Each and every day.

That's not even that hard to copy and paste or just type the letter a and press send.

Lots of ways this can be abused, especially if continued over long periods of time.

zanderlex : The deleting friends scheme won't work. Once you add friend your row in database already exist. Just like with PM's, you can delete them but in reality they are not actually deleted. They still exist within the database. You can go back and edit your game ratings or friends list, but you won't earn any additional CP by changing the values of your database entry.

Every CP action can lead to spam and abuse because they are user based actions. I just gave a game a rating and earned .8 off it. So I essentially earned 8x MORE CP with a click then I did adding 8 friends or sending 8 private messages. With the cap of 10 CP a day, it cannot be abused (earning excessive amounts of cp) only spammed (tons of actions for little cp).

You are assuming that there would be absolutely no spam protection in place on these new CP actions, which is not true if done properly. We need to add spam protection on all cp actions (I'm not even sure there is any right now). If you base it on timestamps you simply do not reward folks who do certain amount of actions per time (minute/hour) based on the type of action.

I personally think there should be a CP action for doing things in the theme editor if there isn't one for that already, as it does in a way contribute to the site. Creating, editing, that sort of thing.

Nothing too crazy, but it's an idea, at least.
