It's been a while since I've posted about dragonball around here but I wanted to post about this arc because it was one of the first in a while that felt a lot like old dbz.

I thought it was handled quite well. Obviously I didn't agree with absolutely everything that happened or how people powered up the way they did but that is the way anime/manga like this generally are. New enemy + new ability/power level/form = excitement and while it might be cliche I still enjoyed the arc. I was interested to see how it would end and who would actually win and what their wish would be.

Thoughts about the arc (or the show in general)? I enjoyed more dragonball regardless of the criticism some people leveled at the show.

Although Super started feeling like old DBZ at the Black arc for me (Goku's SSB KaioKen episode also gave me that feeling but not the whole U6vU7 arc overall), I agree with you for the Universe Survival Arc.

To me, I sort of lost the feeling of new form = hype when they introduced Blue. It took a while for them to redeem Blue for me (especially given the Freeza revival arc was trash). Ultra Instinct feels much different than that, it's not just a SSJ variant but rather something that technically anyone could learn but still exclusive to Goku at that point. Not only that but it's also not just a power up, but it has a gimmick to it. So every time they pulled out UI I got hyped.

Jiren admittedly was a pretty boring character who they tried to insert a lame backstory into way too late into the arc but I still enjoyed the final fight, especially that last episode with the Goku and Freeza team up.

My overall judgement is that this arc is where the writers finally realized that nobody cares about a deep story in Dragon Ball all the time, we just want really good fights. The Black arc was much better in terms of story but they had still dropped the ball there with that horrible ending that just left a sour taste in your mouth. Black is my favorite villain of Super, and only falls below Freeza for all of DB, but I'd definitely rate the Tournament of Power a bit higher than the Black arc.

I've heard good criticism from the ToP arc, and I admit I could go watch it because it's intense fighting all along with very few interruptions, but I am more hyped towards the future of Super.

Tomorrow, the latest Dragon Ball movie will hit theaters in Japan. It's a massive hype due to the introduction of a movie character in the canon of Dragon Ball (since it takes place after the ToP, as stated in-movie), and rumours say that this movie could also be turned into an anime like the previous two, or at least make another anime continuing from that point on.

Eh honestly the universal survival arc was kinda boring to me alot of the character designs were uninspiring and not creative at all plus that arc or atleast the English subtitles painted goku as kind of the bad guy especially since the tournament was his fault and ultimately I hate the super sayian god form and the ultra instinct form to me it's getting too overpowered and the designs for these forms are just super sayian with a different color hair which is sad I was expecting goku to beat jien looking or transforming into something cooler looking like super sayian 4

Super us definitely my favorite of the shows but I really need to start catching up. I watched the beerus and Frieza arcs when they first aired but need to get to the tournament.

Divine Aurora : I'm so glad to see I'm not the only fanboy of the otherwise frowned upon Super Saiyan 4. More than the transformation itself, the change in personality it brought in Goku made GT all the better (though maybe the first error was turning Goku into a kid right at the start).

And well, the concept of basically any Saiyan with a tail and the ability to go Super Saiyan can have it goes in stark contrast to the very restricted Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue. I guess that's why they made it up with Ultra Instinct, very hard to achieve but technically available to anyone.

I've seen the movie and honestly I was disappointed. I had heard really good things about it and it fell flat for me.

I enjoyed the fights to a degree but something felt off. It felt like a rehash of a good portion of the original Broly movie and other parts of Dragonball. I'm not sure why that was needed....

Still, it was better than Resurrection F not that that is hard to do

EX Palen : GT wasn't that bad of a series to be honest sure it had it's fault (baby goku mainly) and sometimes the plot was slow but looking back super sayian 4 was a good design and looks 1,000 times better than super sayian god or ultra instinct, what I wan't to see more of is zeno goku but back to the topic at hand, I really didn't like the universal survival arc it seemed like one long filer episode and I really only watched it after the jiren vs goku fight aired. As for the new broly movie I want to see it I heard it was good, and made a solid story for broly, and the character arcs and story was more flushed out  than what was given to us with the original broly movies.

I only got to episode 114 or something, then I just kinda stopped. The best part of it was when Roshi suddenly became extremely powerful. Wish he'd done that during the Freiza Arc.
