So I'm going to Mexico in about seven days for a mission trip. When our group is down there we are going to build three houses in four or so days for needy family's. We are going to San Luis. I'll post pictures from the trip in this thread if anyone wants to see them.

I don't know exactly know how to do that so could some one tell me how please.

That would be the best way if you have alot of pics you want to share in one post.

I can't help but have more respect for people who take the time and money away from their personal lives to go and do something like this.

It's really too bad you can't go to a poorer country though. Mexico is rich compared to other south and central American countries. Doesn't take away from what you're doing.... but be prepared to see an enormous difference in lifestyle.

You should have gone on a missionary trip to Labrador. That's what I'm doing

thanks guys for the support I would go to somewhere else but I have no control where my group goes. on that note I talked to the pastor of my church and in about two months he is getting together a group and they are going to Haiti, and I might be going on that.

I was born in Mexico, but I've never been to San Luis I hope you have fun and I'm excited to see those pictures.

Which state is San Luis in? I'm only really familiar with a few locations in Mexico and I haven't heard of it. Inland, oceanside? Details man.

Why are you building homes? There won't be any need for homes in Mexico, as all the Mexicans are now living in America.

That said, that's an amazingly selfless thing you're doing and I respect that. Know what you're doing will be helping others, and pat yourself on the back

Tried to look it up... there are lots of San Luis cities in Mexico, all with a third name... if it's a border town then I assume it's San Luis Rio de Colorado (near Yuma, AZ)... but it's a prosperous city so I am not sure, since why would a prosperous manufacturing and commercial center need houses built?

People should be going further down to states like Durango, where they only got electricity in the last twenty years in some places. Not the border cities which they doll up to make it look good to the Americans.

actually that is the right place. it may be a vary prosperous city for the people that live in the city, but the people that we are building houses for live on the outskirts of the city and they are very very poor people. What they need to do for us to build them a house is they need to fill out a form and show the deed to the land and be poor enough for us to build them a house. one of the family's we are building a house for has a house made mostly of card board and other things of that nature. Any way so I'm leaving today for Mexico, and tonight we are not getting far because we need to leave after all the kids get off of school and we are going to get to twin falls Idaho, and the second night we will be traveling to Vegas, and the third day we will get in to Mexico and set up tents and what not. after that we start building.

wow... I'm sorry Elara but that seemed like a really ignorant comment to me. That's not like you.

every city in the world has people in it that could use a house built for them. Not everyone in a prosperous city and wealthy enough to afford a house. Regardless of where the house is being built the people that are getting it are poor and therefore are probably very greatful for the help they are getting.

Yeah Props to you man, when people volunteer to help people in need, that says ALOT about there character, be safe and have fun....Your a good man....

Oh I know that there are the people on the outskirts that need it, Tijajuana is the same way. I've been to Mexico and seen it first hand. I just notice that while there are those people that have cardboard houses they do at least have a house and land. The situation doesn't get any better further south, where you have that cardboard house with three families living in it. What you are doing is great, and I know those people appreciate it, I'm just saying that groups like yours should also go to places where the entire city is like that because they really need it.

Furthermore, the prosperous portion of the city should do more to help those on the outskirts. They have the money, it's just poor allocation of resources.
