So the NFL season has come to an end with the Philadelphia Eagles as the Super Bowl Champions by beating the New England Patriots 41-33. What went wrong on the Patriots side in that game, was it the kink in the armor at the season opener against the Chiefs in week 1 after receiving all the hype repeating as champions, or was Belichick being out coached by former QB Doug Pederson that lead the Patriots to their downfall in this David vs Goliath matchup

sylvester26 :

Are you seriously calling the Eagles "David" here?  There were a number of pundits who picked them to not only cover the spread but win outright.  They have probably the best defense the NFL has seen since the early 2000s Ravens, they have a cartload of running backs who can do damage.  They have Doug Pederson's brilliant offensive schemes that baffle even the best defensive minds in the game.  They also didn't ask Nick Foles to do too much.  They gave him enough space to make throws when he had to and otherwise backed off.

And on the Patriots' side, Brady was looking every year of the 38 he has.  He showed his age.  The team broke defensively because they're not the same Patriots of five and ten years ago.  They're losing both coordinators to the Lions and the Colts.  They really don't have a run game any more and they simply ran out of time.

I'll make the bold prediction to say with Gronk possibly retiring this year, the New England Patriot dynasty is coming to an end.  They play in the weakest division and they'll have trouble coming through next year.  They might be a wildcard.  Brady will be older, they're losing half their OTs to free agency, they'll lose Gronkowski, they're losing their coaching, and they're just done.

There's no David and Goliath to it last night.  The Eagles were the better team on defense, offense, special teams, and coaching.

Well think about some of the teams that have to be David in some Super Bowls; The 2002 Patriots with Tom Brady as the backup QB to Drew Bledsoe singlehandedly took down the Rams, who were favored with 14 points, the New York Giants with a sub-par record, relies on their offense by beating the Patriots twice(Super Bowl XLII, Super Bowl XLVI), and the New Orleans Saints using the second half as their advantage by beating Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts after a surprising onside kick

Did you watch the 2002 Superbowl?  Brady completed like only 15 passes for 150 yards and a TD.  That's not singlehandedly beating anyone.  The Ty Law pick-6 got the ball rolling and Antowain Smith had something like 100 yards on the ground.  The Rams were still monsters and should have won that game.

I agree with both times the New York football Giants won.  They were, ironically, Davids instead of giant Goliaths.
