I looked into this a few years back, The pandora battery sends an invalid serial number reading 0xFFFFFFFF to the PSP which makes the psp boot from a memory stick instead of flash so you can install custom firmware. You need the power cable connected as you do this because once your battery is a pandora battery, you can no longer use it as a normal battery.

From what Ive read on the several tutorials, You can not use it as a battery anymore because it will want to boot from your memory card every time you use it.

Ive never read of a pandora battery working as a normal battery again, regardless. Your best off keeping your battery as it is and buying a pandora battery online, or looking for a cheap second hand one on ebay. Speaking of buying things, there are several good tutorial packs you can purchase for around $10-$20 that will give you all the information you'll ever need.

Anyways, the battery is no longer a battery. You can't use it. Basically, your PSP is no longer cordless. It's like a game console. Always has to be plugged in.

unless of course LL buys a new battery.
the battery you turned into a pandora cannot be charged and cannot provide power to the psp ever again.
unless you can find a way to turn it back, but as Garth said "Ive never read of a pandora battery working as a normal battery again"
