It's probably just for the music. Peapole don't care about the acting or anything, they just want to hear the music they like. For exaple when the Rocky Horror Picture Show was the theme of a show my family watched it, but just for the music.

I think, like Iceape said, it's just for the music. They pick popular songs, and then people watch it. I've watched a few episodes; they were ok, but they weren't good enough for me to continue following the series.

They take time to discuss pregnancies and the discrimination that one of the gay students faces. It's not meant to be a kids' show.
