Many will say, and i will agree, that the classic pokemon games are hands-down the best titles in the series. Also of note is the pokemon stadium series, my favorite personally being the one that started it all. in terms of classic pokemon releases, Silver and Red are in a neck-and-neck tie.

It's a really tough choice, but I chose Silver over Red because I think it marked the peak of Pokemon being good. Also, how is Emerald one of the classics? Emerald is in a different generation, and it's the only one of that particular generation you have listed.

Out of the options before me I'd say Yellow Version because it's the first game you get to walk with your Pokemon outside of battle even if it's just Pikachu..But,my real option would be Crystal version.

I'd have to say Yellow because it's the only one where you can easily own all 3 starter Pokemon of the originals. Which is freakin' awesome.

i may be the only one to say this, but personally i found pikachu to be annoying. It's a moderatly great pokemon, and sure it is a main part of the t.v. series, but it doesn't belong as the lead pokemon. That's why i liked red and blue better. you could pick a pokemon -meant- for the starring role. Silver and gold were the same way. Charging into major battles with pokemon such as Charizard and Blastoise is way more legit than doing the same with Pikachu or Raichu. But thats just my opinion.

You know I have to admit, this poll could start a lot of controversy, but I would have to agree with you hands down. The game play of the original series is down right awesome, but I admit that the animations and graphics of the newer Pokemon games takes the cake. With the exception of Diamond and Pearl and whatever the newer ones are, Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald had amazing graphics, and the abilitly to sprint as well =). I think they attempted to combine the two, in Fire Red and Leaf Green, but didn't quite get it. The fact that you started with the heavyweight amazingness starters, i.e Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur says that they are, and will be, the coolest starters. The only thing they need to do if they make a new Pokemon is to incorporate Silver, Gold, and Crystal with Red, Blue, and Yellow and they would have created a monster of a Pokemon game... Go Silver W00t!! 8D

I think red was the best because you didn't have to use pickachu and could use an electrabuzz instead, which was my favorate pokemon. Blue version wouldn't let you get electrabuzz.

Two things about the original series though....


1. Gust. I actually pictured it as a flying attack but in the original series, it was normal. I'm glad they fixed that in the 2nd generation.

2. Wrap & Bind. It made sense in the original series that Wrap & Bind wouldn't allow you to make a move but they changed it so you could attack in the 2nd generation. That didn't make much sense to me.

I would have to say Yellow, it was the first video game i ever owned, but gold is a close second. While i enjoy red and blue because they have that certain je ne cest quoi that the newer gens lack, the warped looking pokemon in red and blue annoy the h out of me
