I loved Myst. One of my friends and I played kept playing it every day after school until we were finally able to beat it, but I have to admit that the adventure/puzzle games have always been some of my favorites going back to the text based adventure games like Zork and the likes that my dad had for the Commodore 64.

Maybe it's just the fact that it gets ported up the ass for every goshdarn console and the fact that there's nothing to do after you finish the game. Why does it need remembrance when it's just a goshdarn interactive slideshow.

You wanna hear a game that needs more respect than it gets? Daggerfall.

Your so right. Myst is crap. It reminds me of one of those musuem interactive tours. it's just a bunch of slides of good graphics. It's boring as hell. I never liked Myst and I really don't know how anyone could. It's a drag.

Charlatan! You truly have no appreciation for the accomplishment of that day that was Myst. It was very ahead of its time in terms of graphics and pictures, and you should still be able to understand that.

Myst? I played it once.
On the DS.
Coincidentally, I turned it off 2 minutes later.
Sorry, the whole "Go off and do stuff with no direction whatsoever" is not all that appealing to me.
But I do give it props back in the day.

Also, I'm sorry, but I can't leave without addressing this, due to me taking Psychology.
Xfighter, what you did by saying "It's the Internet, everyone swears," is a defense mechanism called Rationalization. Basically, you made up a logical reason.
A direct example would be getting caught cheating, stealing, smoking, whatever, and justifying it or accepting it as "doing it because everyone else is."

Myst's big specialty is in its atmosphere and characters, and it does these things beautifully. The music alone creates a climate of thought and speculation. The entire game from frame one encourages people to see the game differently than they see reality. If any game is art, Myst is a masterpiece.

Well put. It was all about the atmosphere.

Myst was the best selling PC game until The Sims, and for a reason.

It was slow, there wasn't much action, but I was totally emmersed in it.

One thing to keep in mind is that it's target audience was adults, not teenagers. That made a difference.

I must say. Myst IV: revelation is probably one of the most beautiful games I have ever played. And I would recommend it.
