I really understand that the school boards across the country wants to show patriotism for the country by singing the pledge of allegiance and the national anthem while saluting to the national flag. Well, I do understand at sporting events especially the big ones like the Super Bowl and those events, but doing it in schools isn't really optional to do though, and that's why in high school (at least the one I went to), the students don't really have to sing it because it's not really necessary though, unless they want to take choir classes, then that is perfectly fine, but it's really they're choice. But also the other thing is in those inner-city schools where you have some immigrants from another country, you can't really force them to sing for your country and show disrespect for their country, that's like if you go to a city where your team is playing (as an away team) and the other team's fans forces you to like their home team, doesn't make sense.

I believe people should be forced to at least RESPECT the pledge of allegiance. Every country has their traditions, the USA has their flag salute. If you are in the United States, you should respect its national custom.

One should not have to say the pledge of allegiance, as not all may believe in its words or hold allegiance elsewhere (which is perfectly fine!). However, I believe it is disrespectful if one cannot simply stand up for the pledge just to show some respect for the country you are currently residing (temporarily or not). It's even worse if one will talk or fiddle around while it is going on; that is showing you don't care for the beliefs of others, and if you don't care to at least respect another's beliefs, why should we respect yours?

You are welcome to not like something, but at least be kind to others that may have a differing belief. I'm not even very patriotic, but I do believe in showing respect to the country that raised me, even if I have quite a few grievances. I could be a lot worse off.

National customs like this should not be forced. Those who recite the pledge should respect the decision of those who choose not to, and those you choose not to should respect the choice of those who do.

If only everyone respect everyone else.... pretty much 99% of problems would go away, wouldn't they?
