Basically this guy ends up getting a gem/parasite inplanted in his arm and it turns him into a bio-weapon called a Xam'd.
He has to come to terms with his new powers while on the run from the military and has to try and remain in his human form or else he may turn to stone...

Slayers was one of my first anime series...Well I don't count DBZ or Pokemon because back then I never knew they were anime. Besides Nadesico and Zenki it was one of the first anime I ever bought.
I've got a couple of the VHS tapes of the first season. Some in English some in Japanese. I also love the manga series and I want to read the books and novels now too.

I haven't come across the first season of Slayers on DVD yet. Maybe their just all sold out or out of stock everytime I look.

Death Note.

Absolutely fantastic. I recommend everyone check it out. It's short... like 40 episodes or so but so good. And it's not just a fight, fight, fight... power up... fight fight fight type anime. It actually makes you think and has REAL twists in the plot. Haven't seen anything like it before.

Neuro is a being from the underworld, who likes to eat "riddles" and "mysteries" and since he had heard that mysteries abound in the world above, he comes surface side in search of the ultimate riddle capable of satisfying his insatiable hunger. He arrives in front of Katsuragi Yako whose father has been murdered, and smells a tasty riddle... He agrees to help her to solve the murder of her father and in turn forces Yako to act as a detective in his stead, always searching for the ultimate riddle.
