So many people these days only want to have one or two kids. Back in the day people used to have 7,8,9,10 kids. My mom is one of 11 and my wife's mom and dad are one of 8 and 7 respectively. I had 4 in six years and want to have one more somewhere down the line. We are both Irish Catholic and that type of stuff can be viewed as a cultural thing.  There is a very large Muslim community in my area and they seem to have many kids too. What are your thoughts on this topic?

I have 3 sisters a 1 brother total. No kids. But I want a boy... my girlfriends insists on a girl, so she wants to compromise for a boy AND a girl. I don't know about that.

thing1 : Don't rush it but if you can take care of a big family it's worth it.  Especially if they are close in age. They have so much fun with each other. There is nothing better in the world than being a dad. But make sure you are ready. I had my first at 23 right after I got married. It gets stressful sometimes but is a ton of fun. It takes alot of personal and financial sacrifice so make sure you have all of your adult person fun before you start.

Most of the people I know came from or live with very small families.  My parents had four kids, and I always find it a little amusing when other people seem shocked and talk about how large of a family that is.  The strange thing is that I live in an area that (in the past) was culturally known for large families.... and yet now most of the students I teach are an only child or have few siblings.

I personally want 4 kids myself, though my decision has nothing to do with the size of the family I had growing up.  My husband only wants two.  The only way we will have children at all is if God blesses us with some because I have a disorder which makes it nearly impossible for me to conceive.  However, when people ask how many children I want, I always tell them that me and my husband will compromise... we'll have 3 and a half!

Unfortunately, this joke never goes well....  LOL  I should just stop trying to be funny.

Singelli : Best of luck to you and your husband. Keep the faith and practice often and good things will come. I think once your husband sees what a miracle having a child of your own is it will become easier to convince him for 4.

My wife and I plan to have at least 4 kids. We've got #3 on the way right now.

I couldn't imagine having a small family. Sure it would be "easier" to have a small family but I would sacrifice the extra money in order to have a bigger family. I grew up with 3 siblings and I don't think I could enjoy a small family.

As far as I know I dont have any kids and my mom only had two.

And I dont want to have kids with somebody who cant take care of them with me and I dont want to have something I cant take care of myself. And muslims and cathoilcs can do what they wish for all I care. I have also seen it not happenig no matter how you try either.

I only have one sibling, so my nuclear family is only 4. When I have a family (I plan to), I would like 2 or more kids. Gotta pass my wisdom onto more than one person. right? I wouldn't wont a small family. Seems boring to me.

Having two supporting parents is super important for even just one kid. So many dirtbags out there just have them and then just rely on someone else to take care of them. Not that kids with one parent can't be functional adults when they grow up. Its important to have a positive male and female role model in a child's life.

Singelli : How do you feel about adoption?

As for me, I came from a family of 5 kids. Personally, I will never have children, ever. The idea of it makes me cringe, and every time I see someone with a kid, I just shake my head at them.

I love freedom, travelling, and keeping my life simple; kids make those three things a little harder.

Pets are my sort of thing. And I plan on having a garden... but that's as close as I'll come, haha.

Light Knight : I wouldn't mind adopting at all! It just takes so much time and money.... it's not something my husband and I could feasibly attempt right now.    (The application process, I mean.)

Singelli : Yes, I've heard it's extremely expensive... then again, so is a kid. You usually get a child through adoption when they are a year or so old, am I right? If so, then the price to pay is likely close to what it would have cost to raise them for a year. This is just speculation, I understand I may be way off.

The whole adoption thing is sad. I understand that you should make sure that the home is safe for the child but there are plenty of people out there that may not have alot of money but could still be great parents. I wouldn't mind being a foster parent once my kids are grown up. My best friends wife was a social worker in for Wayne county(Detroit Metro Area) and so many kids need a nice home to live. If I lived in a bigger house and made a little bit more money I wouldn't be opposed to having 7 or 8 kids. I unfortunately bought my house when the market was at its peak. At the time I was 19 and thought that I could just sell it and get into a bigger place once we started having kids. Unfortunately Michigan got rocked by the housing collapse and I lost tens of thousands of dollars.Kids may be expensive but they are worth every penny. My little ones brighten up my life. I cant imagine not being a dad now. And BTW I am sitting here typing with my 7 month old giving me the big cheesy smile because she loves her daddy sooooo much.

For my generation it is very small, my mother has 1 sister, my father has 2 brothers and I have a brother who is 13 years older than me! Due to the big age gap between my brother and me, things weren't and aren't that hard!

Light Knight :  You know what's funny?  As I was sitting there typing the last post, I did wonder what the comparison would be.  I was thinking I'd do some research and see if the price really is comparable.  From what I've heard, it's not and adoption is far more pricey. Plus, if you want to go for a younger child, the wait is MUCH, MUCH longer and more tedious.  It's advised that if you want a shorter waiting time, you try and adopt an older child.

I did actually buy a couple of books about the adoption process, but I just haven't had the time to read through them.  It definitely seems a little more advanced that the general public knows.  There are actually different kinds of adoption which have different requirements and procedures.  That's why I put the book down.... I didn't have the time to consider and think about what I was reading.  Maybe this summer I will have the time.

Of course, part of the issue is convincing my husband that we are ready for kids.  That's a real challenge in and of itself.  lol  He wants 2 kids, but he doesn't think we're ready for them.

I think big families are great. I grew up with two siblings, so I know the plusses to having multiple kids. I would like to have four personally, if I ever get married. Just a thought.

I don't really have a big family now.
When I was younger it was quite big my grandmother had 12 kids lol
I personally do NOT want kids but my girlfriend already has such a big family she insists on having at least 4 >.>
So it looks like I'm going to be a dad if I like it or not xD

I currently have a small immediate family. Father, mother, and an older sister who works.
Many times I do wish I had a brother who was my age and almost completely opposite of myself.... sigh. When I'm older and IF i get married, I'll be sure my kids won't get lonely and I'll get busy like a rabbit to make that happen in a few years from now

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
