There are craploads of characters to pick from, but between Raiden and Johnny Cage, I'll have to go with Johnny Cage. The sunglasses are awesome, and he had a lot of good moves to use, as far as I can remember.

In the old Mortal Kombat games, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 was the first one I really got into.

In UMK3, Cyrax was the first character I learned combos with, so I would probably say he's my favorite.  The next character I learned was Kabal in UMK3, so he would be in a close second.  Other than that, I enjoyed playing as Sub-Zero and Robot Smoke.

In the new one for the Xbox 360, I have mostly been playing as Nightwolf, Stryker, Cyrax, and Sub-Zero.  Seems like I do the best with them.

I personally prefer Kung Lao.  He had some decent combos and power moves, but mostly, I just loved that hat.  It is difficult to not be intimidating when you are a Shaolin warrior wielding a razor-edged Spaniards hat.

Smoke was also an awesome character on Mortal Kombat III. He had one special move that was practically instant win on hard mode. I really like the machine characters.

I always liked Sub-Zero, Chameleon, and Kung Lao. Sub-Zero cause you could freeze someone and get a good combo or uppercut them to get damage it. Chameleon cause he could do any of the ninja's moves on the game, and Kung Lao cause I know how to play with him the best out of all the characters.
