Well it sure is a good thing I only repeat about 1-2 words in every one of those posts which include welcome and hey...or something along those lines.

Hello Everyone!

I am a newbie, brand spankin' new.

I found Vizzed through my good buddy Google while searching for how to play Ocarina of Time, and hope to have lots of fun here

Not necessarily me that does this (I post long, distinct welcomes), but I've noticed some sets of people posting almost the exact same welcome replies as one another. It was quite some time ago, however, when I was just getting used to being a regular Member. And the posts are about 50-60 words long. Only a few words are different between each one. Anyway, I think they are copying one-another's posts so they won't have to think of it themselves.

Just, wanted to point this out, so that we can keep an eye out for things like this from now on. If nothing else, then I will.

Serious question: Does it matter if people copy and paste hellos and welcome messages? I mean, there's only so much you can really say when a person is writing a post to introduce themselves. It's the same thing from their end, who they are, about what age, maybe where they're from, and what games they like.

For us, it's the same welcome message, join us, hello, we're happy to talk, please participate and join the conversation, etc.

If that welcome message is well-written, informative, and inviting to new people, who cares if the same several regular Vizzed members are copying and pasting? This is my beef with the website as a whole. It's all about the rules instead of trying to create an environment that's supportive and welcoming to the new people. Let's discuss how we engage new members and what we can do to get them to do more than just play games on here.

Here's a fun game. Let's have the next ten posts be welcome posts that are genuine and thoughtful and don't repeat a single message.

Hey nice to meet you all, I'm new this sort of thing (duh). Just stopping by to say hello. 

I think what you have to do is, well... Make sure the posts are unique and tailored to each newbie. Which is what I'll be doing g - no copy-pasting here, I'll be typing in my replies as I think of them.

I have been wondering this for a long time and was hoping you'd be able to help me out! How can one tell when a new guest has arrived on the site? I was going to try and welcome all newcomers and guide them through navigating the site, thanks!!

I know I'm six years late but HELLO!!! LOL!!

Here's another silly question: Most people say they're new and they really like playing video games and Pokemon especially.  Some may make a reference to My Little Pony.

So, how detailed, different, unique, or tailored to those hellos can we be?  I read the hellos and i keep seeing the same stuff because it's insanely generic.  No one comes in with their life story and we don't have much to go on.

Those are just my two cents.  I figured since traffic is way down in the posting portion of Vizzed, we can green light people just saying hello, whether they repeat themselves or not.

It's just a thought.
